Airports in Canada View in Google Earth

Post by Woxof38 »

Made up a file of all airports and heliports in Canada, that can be viewed in Google Earth. Had a little spare time on my hands.

You're welcome. I took all the info from the CFS. I did notice some airports aren't exactly in the right spot. Not sure if the CFS is out a bit or Google Earth. It's only for fun anyways.

always had the info on excel file. To convert that into the Google Earth, took maybe 8-10 hours. My intention is to always keep it up to date with the current CFS. I tried to do runway data, but kept getting errors on the info stuff. Maybe someone can tell me why?

Nice Job

If you want to add a few here are some from my Willy Lake days:

Finbow N57 16 13.75 W125 26 59.88
Swanell N56 46 28.57 W125 07 00.94
Messilinka N56 05 47.84 W 124 23 53.2
Omenika N56 10 24.55 W125 10 11.74
Bear Valley N56 04 53.89 W123 05 39.93
Bronson Creek N56 40 53.76 W131 05 05.39

Funny that some were identified by name on google but are not in the CFS.

Bear Valley was my favorite, the runway crosses an active logging road at its mid point. And usually a wild ride up the Peace Arm.

Great job,

Although the next time you want to convert data from one format to another in Excel, you might want to take a look at string-related functions. It would save you a lot of time.

Goodbye,

Louis

I might as well point out the Port Alberni water aerodrome:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Alber ... _Aerodrome

ICAO: CPW9

49°13′55″N, 124°48′53″W

Nanaimo also has a water aerodrome:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanaimo_Ha ... _Aerodrome

IATA: ZNA, ICAO: CAC8
49°11′00″N, 123°57′00″W

Cool info- thanks
The google image must be a few years old CZNL as I can spy a yellow Grumman [sold] and a tail dragger [ground looped] that I have ridden but have since departed . I helped paint the strip letters there w' a club member- nice to see it bird's eye
