They offered a position but no dollars where discussed before the offer ???? What kinda whack job outfit is this company? Anyway you would be stupid to fall for that bullshit, get all details in the letter of offer or risk getting hosed.ame25 wrote:anybody know what they pay their oversea ame's or even north bay engineers?? im being offered a job there, but they wont give me a dollar amount.
your worth at least $25/hour if your newly licenced..don't take less!!
Thers is a bit on these forums about the company so check it out a bit.
There is a tech school there in NB pumping out new apprentices yet they seem to always be running adds for people on this forum.
Hmmmm wonder why.
It seems they pay below standard so get it in writing before signing on.

Without a disclosure of salary, it's not an offer. Offers consist of how much you'll be paid including a breakdown of the benefits package, holidays, sick time, etc., how many hours a week you'll get, where the job is and sometimes even a job description. Mighty novel, that!ame25 wrote:anybody know what they pay their oversea ame's or even north bay engineers?? im being offered a job there, but they wont give me a dollar amount.
What was their plan? Have you start working and just issue you some semblance of a paycheque after the first 2 weeks? Or maybe they think you'll work for free to get the experience? Run Forrest, Run.

Are you talking about YYB?? Yes theres public transport, Its a city!!! The bus goes right to the airport. Its a college/Unversity town so rooms are farely cheap average $500 for a place. Lots of parties and lots of good bars. The North Bay Nugget is a good place to look its the local paper also online. You AME or Apprentice??

When I lived in North Bay for school, I rented a bachelor apartment in a hi-rise building on Airport Road for about $450/month. Groceries were on par with southern Ontario although fuel was a little more. Remember that N. Bay is only 3 hours away from Toronto (and 3.5 from Ottawa) so it's not like it's in the middle of nowhere. Yes, they have mass transit. Yes, they have electricity and running water. Yes, they have 1000 new university girls move into town every fall and a few decent watering holes in which to seduce them... I think you'll do fine.

voyageur airways is the worst place i have ever worked .... there review polices are brutal ...bad review no pay raise seems to happen alot....as for pay 10 to 15 dollars an hour seems pretty standard ...there stores manager larry is a terrible man i have seen him make his employees cry...max still runs the show ..money money money dont care how he gets it..but jeff cooke is the meanest coldest two faced person i have ever met...i worked there just under ten years and things will NEVER change...and as for overseas just as bad...promises promises promises lol.... good luck to anyone who decides to try voyageur out,but know this you have been warned!

What I am getting at is this...you either went there as an apprentice or a licensed AME correct ? Why would anybody stay at a job / place they didn't like for ten years ?? If you could not find a job somewhere else in the last ten years that seems odd, as there are and have been other jobs out there for AME's that know there stuff...unless you were the recipient of some of those "brutal reviews"...any of the places I have worked at, have always asked for references.
by the way...I only manage my tool box...so far ! lol

well umm no ... kinda silly to imply only AME's and apprentices work for airlines??
to be honest i loved the work i did ,but a person can say only so many times "it's gonna get better" or "it cant get any worse" made me hate what i was doingfixinem wrote: Why would anybody stay at a job / place they didn't like for ten years ?? i found work outside the airline industry ,pretty tough finding something half ass just so you dont have to move and uproot the kids, i guess im old fashioned that way putting family first...
you can only hear and see your co-workers beating themselves up because they didnt live up to some manager's expectations for so long ,all because they would want a little more money to make there lives a little more comfortablefixinem wrote:unless you were the recipient of some of those "brutal reviews"
well i guess we can say this is a new age were people collaborte on these forums ,ask questions ,share ideas and maybe this is a new age type of asking for refernces would you think ??? and if i were looking here to get a refernce on voyageur airways with a few minutes of reading the nomourise bad refernces. i think my choice would be pretty clear,,,but hey its only my opinion right?fixinem wrote:any of the places I have worked at, have always asked for references.
but i bet ya they promised ya alot more lolfixinem wrote:by the way...I only manage my tool box...so far ! lol
sorry for my ramblings but sometimes i get annouyed when simple people try to sway peoples opinions like calling a post like mine BS...but hey i could be just as bad because my mother always told me if you dont have anything nice to say keep it to yourself, no pun intended
i wish i had this new age refernce 10 or so years ago!
power to the people lol
cheers
