Religion is simply the inability of society too accept their own mortality.
You want to believe in mythical higher power that was started when people could not even explain lightning, so it must be god, go ahead just keep it to your self. Don't come banging on my door your anyone elses trying to save them. Just stay in your own little magical world of make believe and leave the rest of use who live in reallity alone.

Bushed. Speaking as a Christian, I'd ask you to do the same. If you don't like what's being preached at you, politely ignore it. If your take on God is that He/She/It doesn't exist, that's fine. If you'd ever like to discuss faith, there are hundreds of thousands of open-minded Christians who won't shove their beliefs down your throats. Unfortunately, just as in Islam, we have our 1% who seem to get a disproportionate amount of airtime.

I heard it said once that a group is almost always defined by it's most vocal fruitcakes. Unfortunately, I think it tends to be true.

An inability to think and express independent thought on his own?? Seems to be a common trait among the more fanatical religious types around the world.

falling on dead ears from the look of it :D

Job 24:19 Just as the heat of summer swallows the snow, the world of the dead swallows those who sin.

Post by electraguy »

Awwww CC come on guy don;t get all pissy. Its good to see that you have managed to once again be the biggest retard we have here on the AC forum.

http://ebaumsworld.com/2006/06/burgerking.html

Here is a quick shot of CC at his finest.

Take your "book" and hit the road Cloudy, nobody gives a rats behind about the lies and hatred you spew. This is a Canadain website, and we canadians don;t go along with your crap. But we do believe in kickin the crap out of fanatics that spew this shit, perhaps you would fit in well in Afganistan with the rest of the Taliban Whackos. Shove off CC and go preach to some uneductaed people who might believe what you have to say. Or better yet, get with the modern world, its been evolving for millions of years old we don't need your book to prove that. I am sure there are some fine religous fanatic websites that would welcome you and your crazy views.

While CC pisses me off with his extensive fishin', I just gotta speak up about this. We are hardly the beacon for tolerance and understanding that we like to think we are. While it is true that we are one of the best I would like to point out that there is still a strong presence of the Religious Rightists. Ie The conservatives opening up a closed issue for a parlimentary free vote of whether or not homosexuals should be married, next it will be abortions, etc. Just because these things dont agree with their religious morals.

Im happy that Harper said now that he had the free vote the issue is closed for good, but it pisses me off that he opened it again. Face it, there are more than enough God Squads in this country. This forum just happens to have 2 high ranking ambassaders from them (that I can think of anyway).

Ok CC, I’m sure I’m opining a can of worms here but I would like to hear your (YOUR) reasoning behind why one should put so much faith in a book. When I was growing up I was taught that the bible was created on the command of Pope Constantine the Great somewhere abouts 325AD. It was at that time comprised of the four primary gospel Cannons which were edited selections of works that had been written with the intent of making the conversion of non Catholics across Europe easier by means of incorporating traditions and stories from a large cross section of said (pagan) beliefs. The bible was not written to be taken as literal truth, rather it was written to be a “roughed” out basis for the great unwashed to understand. All policy decisions were to be made by the church by creed of the pope (thus allowing flexibility to church policy as politics/technology/economics/sociology found fit.) Then we get the politics of the split of church in England. Some time after that King James does the re edit, adds some stuff for spice, puts it under a crown copyright and presto more of less what you have sitting on your (CCs) table today.
However all through this process (from my understanding, and from what I understand the Roman Curia is teaching still to this day) the church never intended for the book to be taken literally, that was the place of the Priest who would take orders from the Bishops who chatted with the Pope, who would be led by whatever spiritual guidance you may or may not believe in. When (to your knowledge) did this culture shift occur that this book should be taken at the value you are treating it with? IE using quotes for argumentative purposes, treating it as direct truth etc…

Please do not consider this an attack on your faith I am actually truly curious about this question and have not yet been able to find someone from one of the fundamentalist sects who could answer the question. IE I was answered with Im not sure you should ask my Pastor, etc…

It is a BOOK.. and an interpretation.. SOMEONE wrote it.. and therefore there is bias and untold portions of the story.. much like in every other book or story.

I guess people enjoy blindly following such silly things..

Continue on everyone!
