Unique Air Patrols
Does anyone have any info regarding this venture? Is it a scam? They claim they can tell you through a book how to make money with your own airplane doing patrols.
The link they have is http://uniquepatrols.netfirms.com/

"Warrensburg Mo. "
Thats the US.... Not Canada.. So you've hit a road block already....
"I have been amazed at the response! Pilots are ordering my information and handbook. Unique "
Yes, I was amazed at how many pilots would pay for a PPC at Skydive Toronto...
Brit_Guy, since the first comment was "make money," you don't care much about flying, just do the same..
Sell PPCs on an Airplane, who cares if you've got an OC or not, TC doesn't say anywhere in the cars you can't sell "PPCs"
Sell books, sell whatever, pilots will buy it.. You'll make a killing..

It's not a scam, but it is a fairly useless business idea it my view. The guy was posting it as a job opportunity on this website a year or two ago. All his posts and company website info were deliberately vague, but through pressure he did post some details about his business idea.
What he is selling is a "how to" book/program to start your own business doing aerial security patrols of property in rural areas. For example, farms, recreational properties, work camps, etc. If you were to see something out of place you would contact the owner or police to check it out. I don't know about you, but I don't see very many property owners parting with their money to have somebody occasionally fly over and tell them when they have been B&E'd, vandalized, etc. What's the point? How much can you really see?
An airplane occasionally flying overhead surely won't discourage any criminals from doing these things. What would they have to fear? You can't get their licence plate number, won't be able to describe them, etc, etc. If it's in a rural area the cops won't be responding. The crooks will just wave and carry on about thier business.
Personally, I think he is selling books on the internet because it pays a lot better then actually doing "unique patrols."

ROFL, screw calling the cops, hit 500' agl do some "forced landing," in slow flight, over the corn fields, you have about 30 days left.Wilbur wrote: If you were to see something out of place you would contact the owner or police to check it out. You'll be able to spot the fields with the pot, it's a corn field with "bald" spots in the middle, the pot's getting the "extra light." bring a gps, or handheld, communicate with a ground unit and steal the farmers/drug dealers pot..
One field usually yields about 10 plants.. $2k wet, dry it and you'll probably sell it to a dealer for $6k or sell it yourself and you'll make $20k.
Do it once or twice and you've paid for your flight training...
Black mailing farmers works well too..
Some cattle ranchers would pay well to have someone fly over the ranch to check on cattle. They do it all the time. Big outfit in Whitecourt do pipeline patrols with a Cessna 177 in R44 chopper. Just hook a video camera to the wing strut and follow the cut line. There are enough business oppertunities out there to bring in lots of suckers. You just gotta dream a bit.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

I thought AES used the R22 for pipeline work.
And yes, "unique patrols" certainly sounds like a hard sell. I have a friend that does something similar in a truck...visiting vacation homes. One of his big selling tools is the insurance industry's policy that if your property is unattended for more than 48 hours, your homeowner's insurancce becomes invalid for theft.
Of course, I don't think anyone here wants to get into a discussion about who the actual crooks are in this instance.

Please don't tell my mother that I work in the Oilpatch...she still thinks that I'm the piano player at a whorehouse.
