Grooming refers to cleaning of the aircraft, inside, outside pretty well anything to do with cleaning the plane......This includes buffing, removing exhaust stains from the engine cowl (f'ing king airs), vaccuuming the inside, cleaning the galley (stoves and all) .....Plus for tough stuff on the outside you get to inhale MEK all day......gives a nice buzz for ten seconds followed by a headache for many hours......

I imagine that this would be a leading to flying position position, but let me tell you its a shitty job.....literally, if you have to clean the shitter...Some make a career of it, Transport has a few of these folks working there

I did it for a summer on the tax payers dime, paid well but overall the only part i enjoyed was eating lunch on the ramp.

So i guess in answer to your question yeah kind of a ramp type job, but I would rather sling bags if i had to........

It depends what company is hiring too. I don't know too many small companies that specifically hire groomers, its usually part of the rampies job.
I know that places like Swissport and Globeground have dedicated groomers for the big airlines, and thats all those people do, and It will never get you any further towards a flying job.

I would take a ramp job any day over grooming.

It depends on the company. I groomed for 14 months, midnight shifts for a 703/704 operator. It wasn't the greatest job I ever had, but 5 years after I started that job, I'm a twin turbine captain with an ATPL and, in the current industry state, a lot of options. I have no regrets.
