Sorry for the confusion, but my question about how the lawsuit is goin wasn't directed to you, it was directed to the Doc....

Yeah, I'm gettin a little bored here too, damn rainy days....

Suing the government, now I agree about the futility of that.... that's like getting blood from a stone. If you win let us know how you did it.

Otherwise, I'd rather not get involved in the big boy's game with the government, but thanks for trying to include me in the fun

well, back to the fun and games of everyday life here in the americas

cheers

now where did I put that damn beer!!!!

If you like, I'll offer you a seat on my airplane. We're leaving for Europe tomorrow. You are welcome to the free ride (S&J...We professionals do this sort of thing for one and other).

update

Post by Doctor MCDU »

PJ...

It is a slow process. We are currently reviewing the small amount of information that was provided to us through the Freedom of Information Act. They didn't send much!

Also, I had lunch today with a former co-worker of the TC inspector. He worked with him in the USA, and does not have a Canadian Pilot License. In otherwords, he has nothing to fear from TC and does not have anything good to say about the Inspector in question.

As always, I'll update everyone as the events unfold. However, it is going to be a long journey.

Finally, like Cat, I also believe that you're affiliated with TC. That said, their are some of you whom I hold in high regard. You may very well be one of them. In fact, the TC inspector in question - at a time not long ago - WAS one of them.

ps. I hope you find that beer of yours.

MCDU :

Thanks for the offer, however my ticket has already been paid for by my employeers and my wife will be along to use as a pilow when I get sleepy.

Your comment about knowing the guy you have the problem with is interesting.

I also knew and worked with the recepient of that e-mail address before he joined TC.

When he returned from his stint with TC in Ottawa seems to be the point at which he exibited the bullet proof arrogance and contempt for us, his employers. He like many others must have been seduced by the protection provided by the power brokers in Tower C and he became one of them, just another dishonest self serving TC bureaucrat content to be a member of the old boys network headquartered in Ottawa.

It's sort of interesting how people seem to change when they associate with those who are morally corrupt, then again maybe they do not change maybe, they like chameleon's just take on the colouring of the background they are sitting on.

Don't let them withold information, those contacts I gave you properly used will get you some amazing stuff, just ask for every conceivable thing connected to you and your issues. And do not let them grind you down with their stonewalling, they can be made accountable.

By the way I was told at Airbus Industries by the instructors that the tray is for lunch.....and the joy stick is in a place that you would have to be a contortionist to put to use it properly.

Well like past English teachers have said "Spelling and grammar are not your strong points". Oh well I think I got my message across. Thanks Doc and S&J for the insight from both of you on your reasoning behind your posts.

Doc what does MCDU stand for?

Between Sweet and Juicy, Doc MCDU and PJ keep'm coming between the three of you the verbal diarrhea proves entertaining. The hits will keep coming as long as the three of you have at it. Mind you that’s probably exactly what Doc MCDU wants!!

S&J :

Boy are you ever naive the ticket is not "free" the ticket is part of the package when one contracts their services to someone in another country other than that in which one lives.

In the unlikely event that you ever develop a talent that would attract a customer to hire you as a contract pilot there are other costs that will be part of the contract with your employer such as hotel, meals taxi fares and misc. expenses.

I also as part of my agreements with foreign employeers have them supply a rental car for me to use during my stay in their country.

Remember S&J to avail yourself of this type of employment you must have a marketable talent, or you will starve.

PM me and I will tell you what my hourly or daily rate is. then you will really go nuts.

That's nothing compared to the disappointment your parents must have felt. Were you always a little ray of sunshine or do you just come here to dazzle us? I've noted and i'm sure others have as well, that you only post to take pot shots at ., did he beat you up when you were kids or something and you've never gotten over it?

By the way, I don't know Capt SnJ and have no idea if he goes that way; but if you want to date him, send him a PM. Declaring your feelings by calling him Sweety in open forum is a bit tacky.

Multifunction Control Display Unit. The "Brain" of the Airbus.

So many questions to answer…

My foreign employer offers similar benefits, which are standard for someone who is qualified enough to be attracted by an expatriate employer.

My contract includes such things as:

A villa, a car, 6 business class tickets for travel to and from my home country, Medical and Health insurance, Loss of License protection, full expense reimbursement, and $XXX.00 Euro per flight duty hour.

S&J…Can you, for just a moment, see why someone screwing with our livelihood is something that we take seriously!

On the issue of your ticket. I carry beings like you all the time and you too are welcome aboard. But, you’ll have to provide your own kennel, just like the rest of them.

MCDU the "Brain of the Airbus"?... Now I'd have to dispute that... but then, that's not what this thread is about, so I guess I'll just stifle it...

...btw... [ok, I can't stifle everything!]... that Display Unit at the end of that title should clue you in to my objection to the use of the term "brain". The MCDU gathers all it's info from elsewhere... a more appropriate nickname, I think, would be the HUB... Kinda like the bartender who knows a lot 'cause everybody yaks with him, but like "Woody", he's not necessarily the sharpest tool in the shed.

Ok, sorry, I've said my piece... now back to your battles...

I think the type ratings on my license, and my daily interaction with the thing provide me with somewhat expert status, or at the least, power-user capability.

However, since you ask... It is actually an interface between the FMGS, FMGC, ADIRS, FAC's and several other related systems. Simply, everything you can do with the Airbus can be controlled with this unit. Furthermore, it is also the interface to the ACARS and AIDS system.

Tune in next week, when we discuss Control Law Degradation. Or, maybe you'd like to explain that one for us.

Why go Flex, when TOGA works just fine!

S&J :

You sometimes are almost rational, so maybe I can explain something to you and maybe it will register.

Age has nothing to do with being on the receiving end of inappropriate treatment from "some" of TC's inspectors who like to bully their clients ( client is TC's buzz word for you and I ) Age can however have a very noticeable impact on the recipient of these bully tactics.

At my age and stage of my career I finally had enough and decided to no longer just meekly accept inappropriate treatment from a TC inspector.

I wrote to his superior and explained exactly how this inspector had treated me, including the fact that he had threatened me on the phone by telling me he would show me that he could make it very difficult for me to get anything approved for my company.

Weeks went by and I was unable to receive approval of a very straight foward issue, so I asked for the removal of the assigned PMI.

My request was refused.

I went to a lawyer and he advised me that it was my legal right to have the inspector removed for just cause ( which was the request that the lawyer presented to the manager of M&M ) The request was refused.

I then wrote to Ottawa and explained the situation, Ottawa informed me it was a regional matter and referred my file to the Regional Director Civil Aviation, who refused my request for another PMI.

This then ended up by me going back to Ottawa to the Director General who ordered a meeting in Victoria between me, my lawyer and the four top managers in TC Civil Aviation Pacific Region.

The meeting was a set up and I was sandbagged by these people big time, however I was able to produce documentation and send it to the Director General showing beyond doubt that the Regional Director Civil Aviation and the Manager of M&M had lied to me and used out and out dishonest manipulation of CAR's to refuse approval of my O.C.

This stonewalling went on and on and I eventually used the process outlined in T.C. "Quality Assurance " department to sort out this problem.

The person in charge of "Quality Assurance" at the time was as dishonest as the others to whom I had appealed for help in this mess. In fact he stonewalled me for months, meanwhile my company bled day after day, week after week and month after month.

A year and a half later I had no more operating money and could go no further.

Even after I cancelled my application for the O.C. the same PMI grounded one of my Cessna 150's that I had sold on a lease , buy arrangement with another school, the grounding was done in a manner that was pure vindictive abuse of his authority in the manner in which he did it. By the way the sale fell through because the airplane was grounded and I still have it for sale.

Since then I have lost money due to TC out and out lying to two of my customers by stating that I am trying to operate an illegal business and he would not approve any float training done by me.

I could go on and on, however maybe you will get the picture.

Or should I pay a fine for Transport Canada personnel being lying, untrustworthy bullies using their positions to punish me for demanding due process?

MCDU :

Control law degradation is found under Control laws: Principles

Depending on the STATUS of the fly-by-wire system ( number of computers available- status of peripherals and sensors ) three sets of conterol laws are provided.

NORMAL LAW :

when all systems work, or when a single failure of a computer or peripheral is experienced.

ALTERNATE LAW :

When at least two failures are experienced ( eg. Double hydraulic failure )

DIRECT LAW :

When more than two failures are experienced ( eg. three A D R failures........and it then goes on to explain further.
............................................................................................

Amanda aka. A.W.

Please explain the signifigance of the following PFD symbols in the lower left hand speed tape presentation during the approach segment of flight.

What is...VLS ? ( black tape. )

What is V Alpha prot ? ( yellow and black tape )

What is V Alfa max? ( red tape )

You may refer to your "Bus" book.

Cat...Is there something that you've been keeping from me?

Okay. Since I don't have my "Bus" book handy, I'll have to shoot from memory...

Vls...The lowest selectable speed....With Auto-thrust available (this is the key to this one)

Alpha Prot - Angle of attack protections. Basically the low speed protections.

Vmax - This is the high speed side of the protections. It will change depending upon flight configuration. Flaps, etc.

A.W & Griffon....Here's a real simple one for you experts. You're in the approach phase, but have not past the final approach fix. Altitude is 1520 AGL. Flaps 4, with the gear UP. Do you have a gear warning, or not? (Note: You probably won't find the answer in the "Bus Book" or "QRH")

AND, for this approach, you are qualified for CAT III. Weather is 50 Feet and RVR 75M. Auto-pilot 2 will not engage. What FMA is displayed and what are your limitations (Or, could you even do this approach? You tell me).

Dr MCDU... I never claimed to be an expert, I just objected to calling the MCDU the "BRAIN" of the beast... Forgive me, please... I did not mean to imply I thought you were a moron.

For the record, my "type ratings on my license, and my daily interaction with the thing" ought to elevate my status to something beyond novice as well... I'm an AME, lots of time on the busses... licenced on A319, 320, 321, A310... B737, '67, 47classic, and an old 3 holed diesel dinosaur to boot. ...but that'll be the last time I mention that.
