US Airforce regs

I was just wondering what the restictions were to a Canadian trying to join up in the states airforce.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I may be wrong but I think you might have to get just a working visa.

the last time i looked into trying to join the USAF you had to be a landed immigrant. i was told that the process is long. thats as far as i went. hope this helps

You can join as an enlisted member more easily than as an officer. Get your citizenship to become an officer and FLY. All details can be found on their website, you can even chat live with a recruiter, or better yet call them. Make sure you are talking with someone that knows the system in this regard or you may get erroneous information.

I joined the Marine Corps, and it pretty much the same deal.

If you want to fly, you need to be able to hold a "secret" clearance, which means no dual citizenship, just US.
If you want to become an O in another field, same deal. Most jobs require a min of Secret.

Keep in mind, that the AF is down sizing it's officer ranks. They are allowing 60,000 Officers to retire early and or not allowing them to continue on their comission.

Enlisted in much easier. You need a VISA, and then becoming a citizen is much easier and faster than other immigrants not in active duty.

I know we're looking for pilots, (USMC) so if you qual go talk to an OSO.

The Army doesn't have a fleet of fixed wing (except for the odd C-12, C-20 etc...)
They fly a few different types of copters. They are flown by either Commissioned Officers, or by Warrant Officers, not enlisted.

In the USMC all flightcrew are officers, and we do have a number of fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
Navigators on the Herc are enlisted, but its the luck of the draw during aircrew school. You go nav or crew chief.

The Navy has a program for E-7 and above to become NFO's, but it can take around 13+ years before you hit E-7.

If you really want to be a pilot, there are avenues you can take, however it's not an overnight process.
