Jetport

Post by Pratt X 3 »

Can anyone confirm if Dean Kent is the chief pilot at Jetport?
Just want to make sure the resume is addressed to the right person. Thanks.

Todd DiPaolo is the CP, but Roger Adair does the hiring.

Thanks for the info.
The ad in the employment section shows the contact person as the chief pilot but doesn't have the name with it.

I thought Roger did the hiring but wanted to make sure I was sending it to the right person.

Every time I talk to them they are super folks. Seems like a top notch organization. I went in to drop off a resume, the lady at the desk tells me that Roger is in a meeting and to wait a minute. Then she hands a me a coupon to grab a free coffee at Timmies next door.

Walk into most places and see what happens

Sorry .... don't know what the pay is like for the AME's ..... but there is no turn over in that department, just expansion ..... if that means anything. Run into the AMEs every once in a while, and they are a great group of guys (and seem happy).

Nope! Just about everywhere else is a better option than Jetport. This is the least professional organization I have come across.

They have in the past.. disregarded CARS (including operating the Lear 31 single pilot), RJ has done numerous flights in the Caravans intoxicated and without a LVC, they splashed a Caravan in Arnprior, trimmed the trees at Fox Harbor with an Astrajet, landed on the wrong runway and went off the side and end in an Astra, and then the Hamilton Astra accident. I know of one pilot terminated by RJ for deicing his airplane.

....sounds like a great place with nothing but the best guys huh??

Sorry DD, I can't disagree with you more on your assertion that this is a great place. If TC had any balls, they would have shut the doors years ago but they are afraid of Joyces deep pockets and political affiliations.

wingtip,

did you or do you still work for them? you seem quite opposed to them.
are their airplanes all managed as 604 or do they do some 704 stuff as well?
so, rj seems the "bad" guy there i guess, and he is an owner?

if someone knows about pay details, benefits etc. please let us know.
thanks.

No need for apologies. Everyone has a right to an opinion. I am extremely aware of the past incidents, however things have been moving over the last few years. There is a great core of people running the operation who are striving for perfection. The observations that I had during my time there were nothing short of professionalism. There isnt much of a turnover there for a reason, it has turned into a really wonderful place to work. Things sure enough are bound to happen and no company can be perfect, but we all strive towards it. Not sure how many companies operating these days without an incident.

As for the rest of the folks who require some info, feel free to PM me!! Always willing to pass any helpful information along.

I can't answer that fully clearmyside or I would lose anonymity. Let's just say, I am intimately familiar with Ron Joyce and his operation.

Mostly 704. They are actually a pretty busy charter company.

Ron Joyce is a self proclaimed cofounder of Tim Hortons. Tim actually founded the company and Joyce was the first franchisee. He later aquired Tim Horton's after the founders death. Jetport, Tim Hortons and The TDL Group are independant companies. They are only related by Joyce.

My earlier reference to "lawyer" was not in reference to Joyce. It was to a fellow that also works there. His initials are TA and I hear he is now somewhat operationally removed. Joyce was just a common flatfoot thug masquarading as a Hamilton cop.

Joyce is the sole owner of Jetport, although the company was founded by the owner of Mountain Cable. They parted ways early in the project.

If you go there, get what you can and make plans to move on....

Tim Hortons Fleet

Post by Downtown »

I just finished reading the book "Always Fresh" The Untold Story of Tim Hortons by the Man Who Created a Canadian Empire (Ron Joyce).

After reading this book I was left with a question. I was wondering how the current Tim Hortons executives travel now that Ron Joyce and his fleet of Jetport aircraft are no longer part of the Tim Hortons franchise? Did they aquire new aircraft, or do they use the Wendy's fleet?

I once had occasion to transport Mr. Joyce from A to B. While not being a particularly unpleasant experience, it wasn't a pleasant one either. I can see how he could be a very pushy boss. I was left with the impression that I would not want to work for such a person.
My understanding of the Astra and the close encounters of the treetop kind, stemmed from RJ himself forcing his drivers to go below minimums. At least this is what I was told by one of their own.
Sounds like things have or are changing. If you are interested in working there I would get in touch with some of the drivers there and get the goods directly from the horses mouth. Ask around and you'll come up with a couple of names and numbers I'm sure. Our world is only so big that someone you know will know someone who will know someone there.
