Borek - Maldivian Air Taxi

Post by DA42 »

Hey Guys,

Just wondering about the Maldivian Air Taxi requirements for a F/O. When it says you need a float endorsement, which one (or course)?
Is the standard 7 hour endorsement okay? Information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Yep that'll work, as long as you have all the others : CPL + MIFR, you're good to go.

It says F/O's 500TT on the Borek website. But realistically... how many hours would someone need to have to be somewhat competitive?

500TT is more than a hand full of F/Os had when they started at Borek/MAT.

U need...
MIFR/FLOAT (7hr) & Quite a bit of persistance at borek.

I applied once a week for 2 years straight from 250 through 1000hrs, I phoned and tried to go to the office...nothing, and my resume didn't suck either I eventually got picked up by another company.

Borek is a weird egg to crack, if you can figure them out good on you.

Not alot of time to surf in Male, unless maybe you snag a base crew gig in Kuredu and then you might get to Kite board a bit. Otherwise, you might get out once or twice a week if you're really keen right off Male, in the rank polluted water next to the capital.

If you get on you'll fly your bag off and spend the rest of your time in the bar at the airport. Nice bar though....

Not True. Every Sat there is a surf Dhoni going out. Can spend the day on some world class surf. Just have to get the right days off. And the aritfical beach has some nice surf too. But plan to work work 60 - 65 hrs a week. Might want to spend those days sleeping after all your 4am wake up calls that week!

is that so easy to work for Borek MAT or north operations ?

in the other post a guy wrote they took a guy with only 200 hrs. what's the trick ? do they hire you with you're twotter PPC in the pocket, and what does the pay look like... ?

such a Co with so low requirements seems too beautifull to be real.
can someone explain ?

Not enough time off to go Surfing? Why would you want to go there anyway? To show your friends postcards I guess. While on the subject, Anyone else been out of Canada where the surfing is good and the sun is hot all year 'round? It's nice here in the Caribbean but time for a change of scenery.

When i was there in 2004 the starting pay for FO's was $1000 CDN from Borek and $1000 US from air taxi, it may have gone up since then.

As for the DHC-6 PPC, it'll definitely get you on a hell of alot easier than without.

One problem that did occur was a severe lack of morale within the ranks at that time, however a new Ops manager has taken over so more than likely it has improved.

I worked for Turtle Airways in Fiji.

Went surfing on Cloudbreak at least once a week with a bunch of Air Pacific pilots.

Good diving too.

SQ,

I don't see why you shouldn't buy a PPC if you want it, can afford it and use it, other than being flamed in this forum.

I'm glad I've always been PPCed by my employers. These good old days are over it seems

I've never heard of paying for a DHC-6 PPC, Borek likes to recruit from its competition.

Try Raglan on the North Island of New Zealand. It's only about an hour and a half from Auckland.

Just got back from southern Mexico. Puerto Escondido's raging right now... Breaking 8-12'. Apparently 40' is a big day.

Try Casa Olga on Zicatela Beach- highly recommended.
