Rowdy feeling not-so-rowdy after crash. Wish him well inside
One of the regulars on this forum crashed yesterday, on his first day on a new job, I believe.
He spent his last night before going up the coast to start this job chillin' with my oldest daughter, watching Top Gun in the home theatre.
Talking with his folks, he apparently encountered a downdraft while turning up against a mountain.
As soon as he realized what had happened, he did everything right in the seconds remaining, thereby keeping himself alive.
He is banged up with a broken face and two broken vertebrae, and was air-lifted out to Vancouver late yesterday.
He still can move his hands and feet, and the specialists can fix up his jaw, etc, so this tough young man is not to be counted out, by any means.
I have personally flown with him in our tail-dragging homebuilt, and he is all hands-and-feet, an accomplished seat-of-the-pants pilot.
Bush flying is all he wants to do, a white shirt and tie is not for him.
I, along with many of you, enjoyed the video of float-flying in Northern Ontario that he posted late last summer.
I wish him a speedy recovery, and a quick return to doing what he loves.

Yes, in retrospect, that thread title was kind of harsh, and it was certainly not reflective of my intent.
As my kids say, "My bad".
I don't more of the details, will know more when daughter gets home from shift for Pacific Coastal.
Although she'll probably want to stop on the way home and do some aerobatics to ease her angst......

I think if I were hitting Dieppe or the Normandy, I'd want that guy at my side. I am thankful he is still with us.
Can we task someone out in BC to keep us notified as per his progress. If he or his family require anything, I would be all for some sort of avcanada aid.
best regards,
Neil
(also, someone change that goddammed thread title)

Hey Rowdy,
Sorry that you had a bad day at work, get well soon.
Oh, and seing as how sidestick stirrer posted that he wouldn't mind changing the title of the post, I changed the title of the post from "Another One Bites The Dust" to "Rowdy feeling not-so-rowdy after crash. wish him well inside"
I hope that was okay, lemme know if not.
