I'm a stranger Rowdy but wish you all the best. I myself had a near death industrial accident years ago, tbh and based on my experience, you're in for an interesting, albeit - tough journey.

Remember, regardless of how low you may feel going forward, you WILL recover.......seems you have the love and respect of many, as some have mentioned - now is the time to take strength from those willing to give.

One day at a time and all will be well!

Take Care :-)

Rowdy,

Remember that sometimes life has a funny way of doing things, but in the end things work out. This obstacle is only a part of your journey, and I wish you the best while you are overcoming it.

Rowdy

Post by Alpha Floor »

Hi everyone , this is Rowdy's dad. Its just great to read such positive posts on this forum, wishing him well and giving him support.

Rowdy was driving a 206 on wheels out of Bella Coola.

A truly fortunate circumstance that such proffessional and caring help has been with Rowdy all through the ordeal. From the operators efforts, in choreographing the search, through the rescue, transport and trauma teams.

He spent a few hours on the mountain before being lifted out, but everything went textbook.

His jaw surgery was this morning and sucessfull but wired shut. Tough evening for him and he was in a bad mood, we think thats good. The neurosurgery is tommorrow morning. Two crushed discs and the surgeons would rather go in and stabilize than simply brace.

Good prognosis though and we believe everything will go well.

VGA is the premier institution for this type of surgery in BC.

Again its great as a parent to see such positive and caring remarks from his friends and those in the aviation community that wouldnt know him.

Rowdy is a great guy and I hope at some point he gets to meet you all.

Take care of yourselves

Rowdy,

We all wish you a speedy recovery. You'll fly again soon and post here sooner. Hope the pains aren't too bad my friend.

I wish I would still be around and bring you a big box of chocolate with Cat and Pene but unfortunately I'm too far away.

Take care and come back soon. We already miss you.

Tell Rowdy to hang in there!

A friend of mine had a mid-air collision on short final in Texas a couple years ago, in a plastic airplane. It splintered, and he woke up sitting on the runway. They had to fuse a couple vertebrae, but he's back flying aerobatics in a Sukhoi - a complete recovery.

And so will you, Rowdy.

Hedley, Glen Dell had a very serious accident about a year or so ago.

Glen and I are very good friends as we have spent a lot of time together in the cockpit, and I was quite worried that his career may be finished.

He had won the world unlimited a few years ago and since his accident he has recovered and will be flying in the Red Bull Air races this year in his Extra 300.....

....so naturally we expect to see Rowdy back in the saddle very soon.

Your new friends wish you a speedy recovery. Your rescuers commented on how you seemed more concerned about them and their difficulties than you were about yourself – an indication of your true character.

All the best.
Lyle

FWIW..here is a media report. It includes a few comments from the owners of the company.

http://www.wltribune.com/portals-code/l ... 3148&more=

Mar 29 2007

A Lower Mainland pilot will recover after his aircraft crashed north of Bella Coola Tuesday morning.

“He’s going to be fine,” says Bella Coola Air owner Wayne Sissons.

The Bella Coola Air Cessna 206 crashed a few minutes’ flying time north of Bella Coola just after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, Bella Coola RCMP say, and an emergency signal was sent out.

A West Coast Helicopter pilot arrived on the scene, discovered the 22-year-old male pilot was alive, and flew him to Bella Coola Hospital. He was treated briefly for his injuries, and then flown to Lions Gate Hospital in Vancouver with non-life threatening injuries.

Sissons says the pilot, who had fulfilled all of his training requirements, was on an area familiarization flight when the Cessna crashed.

“It was a beautiful day, and there was nothing wrong with the aircraft,” Sissons says.

The cause of the crash is unknown, and the Transportation Safety Board will investigate, he says.
