Watch Out Tran$west

Post by HO Driver »

My buddy who works at WWA in YXE just told me that they are starting a "Scheduled" charter service to Regina starting in October using the Jetstreams. Man that will kick TWA's a$$ on that route because of the 15 minute check-in times for passengers plus no security to go through. It will be Aerocentre to Aerocentre service with a flight attendant. TWA has got some competition on that route FINALLY!!

If you thought you could loose on charters, you aint seen nothin yet. Scheds are like throwin 100 dollar bills into a strong wind!

Sounds like a perfect plan to me, here's why:

The average consumer usualy knows where the airplane gas station is at every airport. I can't imagine customers walking through the airport confused looking for westwind for 1/2 hour with 80 lbs of bags, they will instictivly drive down the service road lookin for their plane.

Why would you want to go anywhere else than XE - QR. I'm sure that all the PA or VC pax would gladly cross the ramp bags in tow to the aerocenter.

If you had to make a connection QR - XE - YYC, our loyal pax would just dragg his sorry A$$ across the parking lot, through the snow filled ditch to the airport, finaly to the westjet counter.

and I would pay more to have an attendant try to feed me and 18 of my friends in the 20 min cruise portion of the flight.

Sounds like a great plan.

Why did Junior decide to undercut West Wind for fishing work. It was nothing but a B*tch!! Damn glad summer is over.

Those WWA girls could use some real work. Lets see those guys try and load a Jetstream without complaining that their ties are getting dirty.

Better yet - when they go mechanical they will be calling us and that means job security for us HOs that want into a turbine.

Does anyone have dirt on the whole NCA F28 purchase? Word on the gravel up here is that they already bought the hangar.

PA31 do we work for NDA perhaps. I hardly think anyone from NDA should be in a position to be slandering TWA or their service. I know that on more than one occasion I've seen planes from National doing Norcan's sched. That always looks good for the customers. Not to mention a few other incidents NDA has had in recent history. As for the Medevacs well I'm no where near Stoney so I don't know how those are going for TWA, but in my experience with TWA and medevacs in the past they seem to be able to get them done just as well as enyone else. And I don't remember ever seeing paramedics in La Ronge getting on an NDA plane to go to Sandy Bay or Cumberland House to pick up a patient. I do digress though. PA 31 if you don't work for NDA then I do apologize but if you do, you should think about the big picture with the companies before making such comments. By now you've already formed the opinion I work for TWA and at one point in time that was correct. Anyways folks sorry for making this about TWA and NDA. If WWA is opening up a sched between YXE and YQR well good luck to them. Many have tried. Few have succeded but with the setup they got planned it may just fly, the government employees will love it. Have fun gents.

p.s. I heard from a friend that TWA may be getting a BE 200 or another BE 100 to replace the Conquest. Any truth to this rumour or is it just standard BS.

TWA?

Post by aviation »

Hello all,

We were just into YSF with a Citation earlier in August, from the US. Seems to me that both operators had good logistics of what was going on in their seperate bases, but refering to PA31's statement, we did witness a true mixup in the transwest medivac operation. As I saw it unfold, there was the ambulance on the tarmac waiting for transwest to get their stuff together, it took over an hour. Anyways not starting anything here.

Seems to me that transwest does a good job with the scheds

Talk to you all later

Speaking of LaRonge bases... what is with the construction for NDAs new headquarters. I heard that they will take over a contract from TWA to service a gold mine.

Any truth to this?

Sitting on the ramp sucks !!! Wonder if this will create any movement at Northern Dene.

Does anyone know if NDA would hire a low timer with a Metro PPC for the sched run, or do they just promote from within?

Hey PA31, Sorry I couldn't add to this earlier, but speaking of losing medevac's whats the hospital going to say when they learn about a thing called "duty time." CARs 700.16 about covers that.

Or how about a thing called "Line indoctrination" as referenced in CARs 703.88(4) + (5)
As in a PCC'd guy can't line indoc a the freshly minted PPC'd fellow. Now are you seeing where I'm getting at?

I could really go on for a while, but it's late and I have to go to high school tomorrow.
Happy Hunting.
