Anyone know what was happening up near Summer Beaver today? Heard a military rescue flight, Air Ambulance and whatnot up there for most of the day. Hope all is ok.

Forgive my ignorance but there's a runway in Summer beaver? I would rather get out of an airplane that is sitting on the ground than jump out in the dark. I would think it be alot safer as well. Is there a problem with the runway there? I know the Herc has landed in Little Grand (2800') in the past.

Depends on the WX (you can parachute in pretty shitty wx) and amount of fuel on the HERC. At ZGR they had to circle for hours to get light enough to T/O. They had lots of fuel on cause the wx was shits and they had circled for like 12 hrs already with a fuel stop (or they dumped fuel I can't recall for sure)

With all due respect to the injured or sick person in Summer Beaver there has to be a more cost effective way of getting aid to patients in northern Ontario than sending a C-130 and having SAR techs parachute out of it. Oh, and then sending a helicopter to go pick them up.

Sending a C-130 in, sending a helicopter in, and then sending skycare in to pick up the choppers slack.

or at least that's what I've been able to piece together.

Maybe I should get into medevacs... get some of my taxpayer money back.
