What you do before you were in avitation?

Post by ybp »

To give some background on some of the contributors here, tell us what you used to do, why you chose the aviation industry and how long you have been in aviation.

Seven years ago I quit driving truck so I could be at home more and have somewhat of a family life. So I went to school and got my M1 8) . That is where I learned about AIDS. So far, I haven't got it yet :?

My dad was a pilot and automotive mechanic so I grew up flying and fixing stuff. I really enjoyed fixing things but didn't like the grease and dirt and rusty vehicles, so I figured I would give fixing airplanes a try. So far I am loving it and luckily working for a great company where they care about family too.

What did I do before aviation? I choked on wood dust for over ten years as a cabinetmaker. Figured it was time to get out while I still had all my fingers...

Why did I choose aviation? I grew up on the flight path at YVR. All I wanted to do was fly for a living as a result. Took me a while to save the cash and get started hence the cabinetmaking gig.

I've been in it for almost six years now. Flown some pretty crappy equipment with equally crappy co-workers, but I have also flown some decent stuff and worked with some great people too. I don't regret getting into flying at all (most of the time). Had some great experiences and seen places I never thought I would....

ybp...Hopefully you don't get AIDS ever! Its not completely unavoidable...

If your smart you will go back to cabinet making. It is a far nobler trade.
