Do Westjet pilots land hard?
I was wondering if any Westjet pilots ever landed so hard that they needed a crane to exit the active?

Afterall Macdoo, Edmonton is such a busy place and entering the apron at the wrong point is so critical to flight safety! Did they violate him for entering the uncontrolled apron at the wrong point or passing a hold short point?
A pretty minor incident to make such a blanket statement about their (WJs) pilots. I'm sure you've never done anything as serious as that!

ATC wouldn't violate for entering an apron on the wrong taxiway. It is a big pain in the arse to fill paperwork etc... to actually follow through with something like that. There would at least be some phone calls first which is usually where that stuff ends. I have buddies in ATC. YEG and YVR. Almost to a Tee super people. It happens all the time at the bigger airports. In fact US controllers just give you a "taxi to the gate" or "taxi to whatever runway" etc... By the way, there is no possible way that you would know if someone was violated or not by listening in on radio chatter. Get your head out of your butt, and stick up for your fellow professionals. Once you start flying to more than 5 airports you'll know what I mean.
If all you ever do wrong is enter a ramp from the wrong taxi way, your ahead of most of us.

ATS aka Nav Canada doesn't have to authority to "violate" anybody no matter what they think/believe the infraction is. All they do is report incident to TCA Enforcement and if there is enough evidence a letter of investigation is sent out to the culprit. Said culprit is given an opportunity to provide a "reasonable defense" of his/her actions.
There are individuals with in Nav Can who believe they have authority in this regard as I have been subject to their various interpretations but I have gotten pleasure on a few occasions to show them(NC) you don’t know how it works.

landing Firmly
i noticed that when they got the first 600 series ng737 that they were landing alot firmer than the 700 series /could that be that the 700 wing span and winglets allow a softer landing or were the crews just getting use to the wing quits flying a tad sooner/ comments?
Hmm I’m having a problem with this rumor as it goes against conventional safety wisdom and common sense. There has to be a whole lot more to this story otherwise WJS is going to be all over everyone involved..…The Hammer wrote:WestJet pilots may not land hard but how come they continue on to YYC after they blow tires on T/O in YYZ?????? Ever heard of Nationair......

Oldncold, you could be on to something, or not. I've been on the NG for 4 years now, and sometimes I go to work and have good landings, and sometimes I'm calling my chiropractor. When it comes to the firmness or smoothness of the landings, who cares (maybe little old ladies...)?
What matters is where you touchdown, and hence where you get stopped. Practicing smooth landings isn't my goal. Practicing accurate landings is.
