I have a question?

Post by Fireflyer »

I would like to know if a Class 1, 2, or can still freelance in Ontario without being associated with a FTU. I have my own airplane and want to get my private, night, commercial. Then I want to sell the single and buy a twin and get a multi IFR and build some time.

I heard that maybe they can't feelance anymore.

I have no idea what Ontario is doing with their college programs etc; but aviation is still under the feds so an instructor can still freelance, no matter what the Ontario government says.

Well, for one to freelance, doesn't the student need to have his/her own aircraft. I was told this when I was seeking a freelance instructor for a friend of mine.

The gov't is slowly but surely closing the noose on freelance instruction, which has nothing to do with safety, but instead lobbying and control.

For the regs, see CAR 406.03(2)(b):

http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/Regse ... htm#406_03
2) A person who does not hold a flight training unit operator certificate may operate a flight training service if

(b) the trainee is

(i) the owner, or a member of the family of the owner, of the aircraft used for training

How much of a share in the aircraft would someone need to be considered an owner ???
Would the one dollar share scam still work ???
Used by a famous scammer in boundary bay after transport tried to shut him down on a weekly basis .
