Matheson Island accident?
heard there was a navajo crash at Matheson Island... Anyone have any info.

Two people suffered serious injuries when a plane crash-landed Tuesday evening on Matheson Island in Lake Winnipeg.
The twin-engine plane, carrying eight people, turned back to Matheson Island after it began experiencing engine trouble shortly after takeoff, transportation officials said Wednesday morning.
The plane landed in reeds just short of the runway on the small island, 200 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
The Transportation Safety Board has not decided if the agency will conduct a full investigation into the crash, said spokesman Peter Hildebrand.
"We'll need probably some equipment to go in to raise the aircraft and be able to have a look at it better," he said. "At this point, it's not really practical to look at it because it's sitting in a marshy area."
Emergency crews from Teulon, Arborg and Gimli, as well as Manitoba Conservation officers from Riverton and the Canadian Coast Guard from Gimli responded to the accident.
The injuries of those on board the plane were described as serious but not life-threatening.

Eight people including the pilot survived when a single-engine plane made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff into a marsh on Matheson Island, RCMP said last night.
Single engine chieftain......media!the Piper Chieftain turned around and tried to land on the runway after its engine failed.
