Wouldn't call it a bunch, they only own 2 the rest were leased and have all gone back to their companys in Europe.

thanks for the info, wooden.

for those of you scoffing at the idea, it wouldn't surprise me that they're taking a serious look at the idea. We still have the Jetsgo fiasco fresh in our minds, no doubt.

I asked about unions because if there were no union, it would be far easier to put the 2 employee groups together.

How many times has WJ said 'never' and yet it still happened?

Allowing Jetsgo to do damage by that insane expansion it did, when Leblancheque made it clear very early on that he was willing to sell. The number I heard is he wanted $50million for the operation. It would have been small change compared to how much money was lost 'competing' with them, and I use the term loosely. They did take a good hard look at buying Jetsgo, but I think it was too late by then. So by fiasco, I mean that they decimated profits, and was part of the reason we had a rough couple of years financially.

Also, Jetsgo itself was one giant fiasco just on it's own. There's still some stories circulating around about the shanigans that went on.

Got it, thanks. I was out of the country during that part of aviation history. (I wasn't trying to stir the pot).

I can guarantee there was no serious discussion about buying SG.

What do you propose WJ would have done with the MD80's and F100's? Operate them under the WJA brand?

So what would WJ be buying? An airline with horrific losses, with airplanes it didn't want, employees it didn't want, and unions it didn't want.

What's that worth?

Better to let SG die on the vine. Leblanc's value, together with Canjet, and Harmony, is to prove there isn't a market opportunity for another sched carrier in Canada.

The possible mistake WJ made was not going Bakersfield chimp on SG from the getgo.

The employees would have been the only asset, just think, an instant injection of francophone FA's(which we badly needed at the time). That would have been about it though. Good points.
