Asking for money

Post by saucer_driver »

So on here everyone is always going on about how pilots are underpaid. Now you are offered a job with a rather tight but livable salary, what do you do?

Ask for more money

Just say no thanks

etc.... Just wondering what wouldnt be rude, because typically you would like the job, just you want more money to do it...

any ideas???

If you intend to stick a while, you could always negociate your second year salary from the start.

Is the salary fair? Is it comparable with other operators of the same type? You could always try the direct approach..."I'd love to work for you, I think it would work out well for both of us, but the pay is a little lower than I was expecting." The flip side of that is, if a raise happens right off the bat, then you'd better bust your ass..

Spruce's approach has a great deal of merit, too..
