Well, I'll be a pilot in training eventually.
I just received an offer of employment from the CF as pilot in the CEOTP program. I start my basic training in Jan. (Had to be the middle of the damn winter.)
I would greatly appreciate any info/advice/warnings/anything anyone can provide. I'm know I won't have any problems with the BOTC itself, and I feel that I will be up to the actual pilot training.
As for specialization, there must be a list a mile long for the new Globemasters, but I think my choice will be rotary wing (If you have opinions against this choice, please let me know) for a couple reasons. While I know I will be in the armed forces, I am adverse to being responsible for killing someone, which is why I'm not gung-ho for 18's. Also, the coastal rotary seems like the most potentially rewarding and exciting direction (Possibly being involved in saving lives). Plus My hometown is in Nova Scotia, so a Shearwater posting would be a possibility. Hopefully the Cyclones will finally be on duty by then.
As for my background now,
Previous reservist Infanteer, currently an apprentice AME.
Glider Instructor Pilot with the cadet program, private license from cadets.
A note to other people applying for CEOTP pilot. In my opinion I was an excellent candidate, and it two years to receive an offer.
Looking for any info/advice. New pilot in training.

The CEOTP is specifically for people that do not have a degree, but have other qualifications towards their carres choice in the forces. Continuing officer education progran is what it stands for, and basically I have to sign a contract agreeing that I will get a degree on my own within m first term of service (which as far as I know will be 12 years)Pilot_adam wrote:Don't you have to have a degree before applying for the RCAF ??!! I know that this program is still open right now, and that anyone with pilot/some university experience should definateley get in on it if this is a career branch that interests him/her. Just go ask about CEOTP Pilot at your local recruitment office.
