Licenced M1 AME

Post by Ducky »

Bitter, twisted, and somewhat disgruntled :D AME with M1 licence, DHC-6 endorsement, PT6-21/27/34/114 heavy maintenance course, Human Factors course, Transport of Dangerous Goods/WHIMIS training, plus Emergency Medical Responder course (Alberta College of Physicians certificate on its way), Standard First Aid/CPR "C" training, seeking employment in the Calgary/Springbank area.

PM if interested.

Sorry, will not work night shift for health reasons.

Honest Q' doesnt every AME need to be endorsed on each aircraft they work on so as not to get some guy thats been working on C-150's for 20 yrs from signing out a hmmm twin otter from the shop with out ever seeing one before?

My wording is somewhat sarcastic but none-the-less it is an honest Q'

There is no such thing as a twin otter endorsement. The way they keep every Tom, Dick and Harry from signing them out with no experience is with a company issued ACA.(aircraft certification authority)

Also, the AMO has to meet certain requirements, in regards to experience, before it can issue an ACA for an aircraft type.

....and you wonder why I'm trying to get out of this bloody industry. Yes, now you can have an ACA through the company, all I'm saying is that I have had an actual course on the Twin Otter, got the funny little piece if paper too. Old system/new system. :x Argue

Obviously this industry sucks. Let the keener apprentices take over and see how the quality of work and accountability drops when overworked and underpaid. Like I said before, there is no CONSTRUCTIVE critisism!

Ducky,
Grow some thicker skin... Even in the old system, you didn't need an "endorsement" on a DHC-6... an A5 or A6 licence covered you for it.. (later an M4) And this was long before there were ACA's... If you have been around as long as you insinuate, you would know these things.. If you want constructive criticism, ask a logical question that has merit... Don't go flying off the handle just because someone points out a mistake in your post, either do your research first or accept the correction.

Hi ducky, If you are referring to my post and I assume you are because you mentioned aca, I was actually answering the question asked by
One-Ill.
Some people are not familiar with the way signing authority is structured so I try and make it as clear as I can and base it on facts.

Thanks then for the clarification. Just thought that it was worth something.

Obviously my time and energy is better directed towards something other than aviation. However, I am available if need be, but I understand that Bombardier Aerospace is laying off a couple thousand people.

Sorry guys and gals, guess I'm a little too bent and twisted.

That makes one less licenced engineer available in the industry.

It's been swell.

As for the ACA, doesn't that ultimately defeat the purpose of having a licence anyways. When I started, a licence was the ultimate goal for an apprentice, followed by endorsements and courses as an AME. What then am I missing?

Sorry, the last 2 years have not been enjoyable with the comapny that I worked with, and has left a nasty taste.

Twotter, I apologize. When you do have a piece of paper stating that you have learned the twin otter after taking a week or so long course, to be told there is no such endorsement... well, I'm sure you get the idea.

I know what you are saying bud, but the problem is you keep calling it a DHC-6 endorsement. You have a DHC-6 course same as your PT6-21/27/34/114 heavy maintenance course. Its only an endorsement if the A/C is over 12500 lbs and then the course has to be approved by Transport canada, and you would have a M2. Its still great to have, and should help you get a job, but call it what it is, other wise you confuse some people.
Good luck there is lots of work out there for M1, but you have to look for it!!
Skyward is looking fot mechs!
