Narrative: Initial information received from T.S.B. Initial Notification (#A07C0188): The pilot of a float-equipped Chimo Air Service Cessna 180D aircraft was landing at an unoccupied outpost camp at My Lake, Ontario (about 45NM northwest of Red Lake) to service the camp for winter shutdown. The approach was conducted into the sun and, after touchdown, the glare prevented the pilot from seeing the rapidly approaching shoreline. The aircraft ran up onto the boulders on the shoreline, substantially damaging the aircraft. The ELT activated and was heard by an overflying aircraft. The pilot was uninjured and shut the ELT down to avoid alerting search and rescue. The pilot spent the night at the outpost camp and was reported overdue. A local flying company initiated a search and found the pilot waiting on the dock.

Um, this pilot de-activated the ELT, but didn't notify anyone that everything was ok?
