King Air Guy,
"I heard a rumour about Jazz may be expanding the YYC base with the addition of the RJ's, any truth to this??? "
Hey there, never wanted to be the spokesman for news at Jazz but I'd rather have some complete facts out there. While the CRJ aircraft are arriving in Calgary at the end of the month they are primarily there because of Reduction/Vacancy Bid 2004-1 in April. There was an overall reduction of 18 Dash Captains and 11 Dash F/O's. Now add that with a new posting of 15 CRJ Captains and 14 CRJ F/O's and you basically have an even bid. That is not to say that future bids might show an increase with the addition of more CRJ's. Heck at the end of Dec we will have 18 operating at Jazz with 47 more to come ( 7 more 200 LR's/ 15 74 seat 705's / 25 CRJ 100's from AC ). I do believe the first two new factory CRJ 200 LR will be on the property very soon. They will probably be kept in Toronto doing some longer flying like a Houston /Dallas /New Orleans where you can utilize the extra gross weight of 2000 lbs when you are pushing the winter winds going down to the south west.
Curious to see if the new CRJ aircraft will come with a new paint scheme as I do believe tail # 639 a 767 is still down in Amarillo Texas getting a new look for next week. It left on the 30th of Sept and is supposed to make an appearance next Sunday or Monday evening in Toronto. Then straight into the hangar till the "re-branding
