Sincere Thanks and Appreciation

Post by Duke Elegant »

I am honoured that Joe would find my Tales worthy to qualify for the new Classics forum and I thank you sir.

Also by reading my new thread it will become obvious why I have been somewhat tardy in my committment here.

The kind words and inspired replies I recieved from all you brothers make it all worthwhile.

Thank you

Les

Your tales are well worthy of the title 'classic'. Your words are indeed elegant, and bring both happiness and sorrow. Keep us in the loop Duke, we all pray for speedy healing, and long life yet to come. Cheers. J

Duke, we've never met, but you have my utmost respect, for more than one reason. Your stories of aviation and other topics are eloquent and inspiring. You've fought many a battle, and continue to do so. You're zest for life is to be admired.

We're all pulling for you Duke.

Jeezuz Duke...
You don't know me either, but I can't read that (other thread here), after having read all your stories and say nothing... I feel as though I do know you.... Which means you've done a great job of telling those stories.

I don't know what can be said, but I needed to say something... Do you have any idea how many of us have been following your tales and growing to like that "Old Aviator"? I hope that means something to you... small consolation maybe when a man sees his spot on the mountain approaching... but maybe it'll bring you some satisfaction.

I've often thought if I was in your position (as an overweight, 30 yr smoker, I guess I may be before long), I'd get myself a puppydog... I've always had dogs and always considered it a huge ripoff that we outlast them... A new pup would be one who just might have to outlast me. That'd look good on the bugger! :D ... and who knows... Maybe the therapy value might help the fight anyway?

I hope that doesn't sound crass...? For what it's worth, I'm not a praying man, but if I was, I'd surely be praying for you. Hell, maybe I will anyway...
Lord, whoever you are... please look after Mister Duke Elegant. He's a good man.

Sincere best wishes Duke. Add my family and I to the long list of those who are pulling for you.

Griffon

[edited to remove real name... I only added it to declare sincerity... now y'all just kindly forget who this Griffon guy is, so I can get on with being a dink without embarrasing myself like I usually do. ;)]

Duke,
I too have not had the pleasure of meeting you, although I know we must have crossed paths quite a few times. The best of luck to you, the best of everything to you.

Duke: it would a shame if your words were to be lost. This BBS is far too ephemeral - please do contact someone like Garth Wallace and get your stories collected into a book!

Hey Duke,

As you know I have been following your thread right from the start. I'm glad you're back and I too, have saved your work. Yeah, you know me and I know you and you gotta keep writing my friend. You have lived more lifetimes in one than anyone else I know and the rest of us out here really deserve to hear more stories. You ain't done yet - keep on keeping on Duke!

And just cause I'm not a 'brother' but a 'sister' doesn't mean I can't nag you! WRITE MORE STORIES PLEASE!

Hi Duke,

Just joined the forum and after reading the stories the Duke could only be one person I know. It brought back a lot of memories of the old days in High Level & the Yukon on the A 26's with you Hollywood. Heard about your illness this summer from Dennis K. sorry to hear. Wish you all the best keep up the good fight and the writing, it brings back great memories. Your old AME & Friend Doctor Fever.

Well , well , well ...... Dr Fever. Indeed we shared some funny times. Thank you for the kind words.

Oh man... I'm just bursting to tell some stories right now ...like the Cessna 310 that landed gear up twice in one day ... and Laurie Lucien ... and Sherman .... lots more stories yet.

Thanks for the words Dr Fever

I wish Joe found my tail intresting. Just kidding now!!!

However...since we never exchanged cyber words before, I find your 'tales' to be outstanding and usually crack a beer open when I sit down and read your stories. Image

I hope one day I will grow up to be just like you.
