on the topic of collectcorp..

Why the feck is a collection agency hounding me for my $55 when it has be already paid! Does this mean I get a refund?? Honestly, if any business operated like TCCA they wouldn't last a week. Isn't TC supposed to serve me? Not the othe way around?

If you were denied a briefing through a FIC I would complain. Email Nav Canada with the time/date you called and they will find out who did it because all that crap is digitally recorded. They are still Flight "Service" Specialists working at the FIC.

Professor: let's say you buy a stock at a high price, then sell it at a low price.

Would you expect me to make up that shortfall for you, too?

I sold my last airplane in June and when my airplanes had C of A's on them I paid Nav Canada fees.

However if I owned an airplane that had no radios and I never used any Nav. Can. services I would have to think about paying for something I never get or use.
They are making a much safer country to fly in. If you don't think so why don't you go fly in another country and find out how bad it is, I have. Trust me the Canadian system is FAR superior to other countries.
At this point in time I have no real idea what your level of service is in Canada compared to other countries as I have not flown commercially in Canada since 1996.

In fact I can not remember the last time I flew an airplane in Canada period.....must have been about three or four years ago when I did a one hour test flight for a friend in his new RV8...but I have flown in over forty different countries since I quit flying in Canada so I have a pretty good idea of what the rest of the world is like.....

......now to all you Canadian patriots I would be happy to compare the nav service in lets say Angola with Canada, is that the comparison you want to use as a benchmark for quality?

Hedley, that'd be great and can you cover my credit card debt?

NC actually got a steal of a deal from TC. This arguement can go on forever as people state whatever they think is true and most of it isn't, big surprise on a forum I know.

So I propose something we can all agree on.....LEAFS SUCK!

Hijack.

No problem, I have nothing to do at the moment.

And just for comparison purposes I thought I would mention Angola, at least in Luanda I could find a weather office and walk in and there was a weather person there......( who I found to be brighter than a Nav. Can. manager I once dealt with. ) said person was not much help in providing weather though.

Therefore in Canada you can get better service on some levels..so as you can see I am supporting those who claim that Canada is ahead of most of the world.....including Angola. :smt023 :drinkers:

Denied a weather briefing? This is by calling the appropriate station for your area?

Incredible :!:

I can't imagine for what reason an FSS would deny a weather briefing... perhaps a "Can you call back in X minutes" at the worst!

The FIC guys/gals in my part of the country are always quite helpful, even offering my things I haven't asked for to make sure, which I appreciate even if I don't need it that day.

That i am aware of we are not allowed to deny weather for any reason. If someone calls me up and i'm busy i might switch them to 126.7. Other than that if you phone a FIC they cannot under any circumstances that i am aware of deny you a briefing. Now if you reported it (which should have been done) That FSS would have been pasted to the wall for not doing his job.

In CYOJ, citing security regualtions, one cannot even go up to see the FSS guy. And they thought they were lonely before....

But half the time they leave the gate at the bottom of the stairs open and you could wander up, in complete violation of security regulations.

With the advent of FIC's there is no longer an "operational requirement" for pilots to access an FSS. Therefore, many revisions ago, our manuals were revised to state that visitors must be approved by the manager, and somebody must be available to escort said visitor (so as not to distract the person actually on the job). You obviously encountered people who read the manuals. :)

(This actually applies to any ATS unit...prior to the amendment FSS were "visitable")

I'm not sure if I know where you're headed with that?
