Discounts on freight???
Hey Fellas,
Just wondering, do we get employee discounts on shipping freight? I heard this before can't remember where I may have dreamt it but could have swore I did. Also where can I find info about it, it ain't on the company site.
Thanks
King

They're both a great deal...it just depends on what you want. As posted, FedEx is 75% off, and every time I've used it, it has been delivered to the recipient's door by the next afternoon (anywhere in the country). Most bigger locations want you to drop it off before a certain time (4 pm, I think), in order to get the discount. Best to call them to be sure...
AC Cargo is a little cheaper (certainly not free), but is sent on a standby basis (which can cause a delay). Downside (if you live in a big city) is that you have to go the airport to pick it up. HUGE upside is that it can be sent to you by anyone on a COD basis. This has come in very handy for us, in that we've had people pick things up for us and ship them to Thunder Bay, saving HUGE money over a store's delivery price (i.e. Ikea). All they have to do is drop it off, and you show your employee ID when you pick it up, in order to get the discount.
Hope that helps...
Swerved.

In a world full of people, only some want to fly. Isn't that crazy?
With FedEx you get a discount on express service only, not ground.
With AC, you get a discount on the shipping cost, but not the surcharge. I sent a 300 lbs piece of equipment (I took it apart and shipped in different pieces) from YYZ-YQT for under $100. A trucking company wanted $500 to ship it within the next month.

Oh there is now a flat fee for anything you send - not sure the fee. I recently sent a ticket to my sister and it cost me $50, and before that 40LBS of cured meat was also $50 LBS.
