Day in the life

Post by priceless »

I was wondering if someone could give a positive rendition of their day in the life at AC? How about something positive for once from someone who absolutley loves working there for those that are about to join or hopeing to!

What I can say is a day at AC is probably not much different than a day at other major airlines. We live a great life filled with daily challenges which for the most part get resolved quickly. AC is a big place with a diverse make up of personalities but with one common goal towards professionalism. A typical day would begin at home as you prepare for a pairing. Yes even that silly hat makes us proud. In the crew room there is the usual chatting and socializing as we retrieve flt plans, talk to dispatch etc and if you are in between flts you can catch the latest news or watch a movie in the lounge (on HD no less). The equipment we fly is for the most part new or at least updated. Where you go depends largely on the equipment you're on. AC is really two airlines in many ways as defined by widebody and narrow body aircraft. The ability to choose the equipment and lifestyle you want is one of the greatest aspects of this job. The network of destinations is another perk. Despite all the satisfaction, I would say coming home to the family is the best part. And even at home, you're always in touch with the job through the myriad of company websites full of info regarding the profession and our personal lives. These are tools which help organize and keep track of your professional as well as personal life. The information is at times even overwhelming yet appreciated. I tried to make it brief but it's not easy. There sure is lots more. Hope it helps a little.

Check mail box
Meet the crew
Check weather, fuel, route, w&b
Go to the plane
Stow the flight bag, plug in the headset
Ask the F/A for a cup of coffee
Call delivery for clearance, call ground to push & start
Taxi and take-off
Turn on autopilot
Eat dinner
Take a break
Land the plane
Go to the hotel
Get a blow job

Yes, Air Canada has a lot of male flight attendants that would be eager to fulfill that last item.
