The Shepherd
Just a little heads-up: CBC has decided to return to an old tradition, and this reading is scheduled to air Christmas eve, 18:30, I think.
Great story. Brings back lots of memories from Christmas Eves past for me, and I'm sure lots of others here as well. For those of you who are unfamiliar, tune in: I think you'll enjoy it!!

"The Shepard" is an excellent program and can be downloaded from this site:

I highly recommend it. The download is only available from this site for a 7 day period only, then it cancels itself.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all.

Re: The Shepherd
Just a slight "bump" to bring this thread up to the top again.
Tonight is the night to listen to this classic story of an RAF Vampire pilot flying home to the UK for Christmas. Exceptionally well written and perfectly read by "Fireside Al" for your enjoyment.
I recorded this from the CBC (Communist Broadcasting Corporation) and distribute it freely to undermine a source of their funding.
Downloads are limited duration and will time-X on the 30th.
Enjoy

Re: The Shepherd
There's a guy on the Aircraft Resource Center modelling site who's made a simple diorama of The Shepherd. Looks great.

Re: The Shepherd
Hey guys, thanks a lot for this!
I remember hearing the first 3/4 of this story on the radio one year, but I never got the chance to finish it.
BTW, the download is still available; I just picked it up.

Re: The Shepherd
Glad to see that there were a few people that enjoyed the download link.
Its one of those special programs that is memorable.
Al Maitland is just about the best reader that the CBC ever had. One of the very few that I felt wasn't a left-leaning socialist trained at the "Fidel Castro School of International Journalism Studies - Toronto Campus."
Regards to all,

Hey Fogducker,
Was that your download link you posted? Been off the airwaves for a bit, so missed this post - I heard the broadcast a few years ago on the CBC and would have liked to share it this year with my Dad. Any chance a download link is available somewhere else? I searched all over the net looking for a listening location for Christmas Day, but missed the one on Christmas eve...
Thanks,
Snoopy

Re: The Shepherd
Hi Again Folks:
I had a couple of PMs looking for the "The Shepard" by Al Maitland and I've just uploaded it to the free file transfer site again.
This link will be valid for a max of 7 days or 100 downloads and then it self cancels. The file is about 15 megs.
I'm encouraged that the last upload was downloaded to its maximum of 100 times before it reached its calendar max of 7 days.
Here's your link, I encourage you to save it to disk for the future:
