Anyone else faint during the medical?

Post by TopperHarley »

So I was in the middle of doing my medical, just had the blood work done. I felt fine, but next thing I know, I'm on the ground, staring at the ceiling with a pillow under my head and 3 doctors surrounding me calling out my name. It was the best feeling in the world, but a little embarassing.

Anyone else part of the club?

And just so you guys and gals are aware- for the urine sample you have to wizz with the doors wide open while the doctor stands next to you so they can "hear" you go! It took me over 1 hr to finally give them what they wanted

I've never actually fainted from a blood test but I've been awfully close. Anytime I'm having bloodwork done I always let the tech know in advance and they usually have me lay down. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Don't know yet. Have to wait the results from the blood work and get my references checked. Should find out within the next 1-2 weeks I'd imagine.

Also, to make the blood test even more stressful, you have to fast for at least 12 hrs prior to going to the medical. So you're already quite tired and hungry going into it, and the amount of blood they take seems to have been a lot more compared to other blood tests Ive done.

After all of that they never gave me a lollipop. I'm starting to have second thoughts about Jazz! :smt040

That's how it is for myself and that's how they did it for others I know.

I did the sim eval before the medical, whereas I know other people who did the medical before the sim. The reference check seems to be the final step though, which seems strange to me.

C-HRIS has it right, the reference check is the final step. Order of sim vs. medical doesn't really matter.

Hey Chris,
I wouldn't worry about fainting after giving so much blood. Jazz probably sells it in the black market for some extra coin. :D

I remember the first time I gave a blood donation in college. I passed out after about three minutes while the nurses had to rush lifting my legs up and try to bring me back to life. Heesh, that was the first and last time I gave blood.

About the pee test... well, I guess that doctor is just a pervert.

My sim was mid Dec too. Another guy I did the sim with just got the call for the medical as well. So I'd imagine that you will be hearing from them soon. I think it all depends on the availability of the doctors (i.e. if you are in AB, they will probably wait until the doctor in YYC/YEG is available). You can call them and let them know you'd be willing to do the medical elsewhere, which may or may not speed things up. But I wouldn't worry about it... if you failed the sim, you would have received the PFO already.
