Student pilot crashes simulator

Florida Senital Star, 4 January 2008

In what may be a first in the aviation world a student has crashed a multi-million dollar simulator. Buba Jemmah came from Gambia in Africa with dreams of being an airline pilot, but his dreams came crashing to a halt only two weeks into a month long training process at SimFly in Florida when the simulator he was controlling rocked off its base and crashed to earth. “This is unprecedented”, said James Tavern, president of Sim Fly. “Nothing like this has ever happened in the aviation training world. These things are bolted to the floor”.

The Frasca B737 simulator that crashed was a ‘full motion’ type, with computer controlled hydraulic legs that simulate the forces pilots feel when maneuvering. In addition it had complete simulation of views outside the windows, Air Traffic Control and accurate control forces. Full motion simulators mimic real aircraft so well that pilots trained in them become licensed to fly the real thing without ever setting foot in an airliner. The simulator carried a crew of three, Buba, Evin Shkey from England who was training for the first officer position, and the instructor who sat behind the pilots at his own station in the completely enclosed cockpit.

“Luckily no one was seriously injured” said Buster County emergency responder Hieronymous Crutch. “But all three were pretty shaken up because they weren’t wearing their seatbelts during the estimated ten foot fall.”.

No one really knows why the simulator tipped over, but from his hospital bed the instructor told FAA officials that Buba had been know to provoke the simulator into some pretty wild gyrations, and that today was no different. He is reported to have said, “personally, I wouldn’t let Buba pull my kid’s wagon”.

“I don’t think we will ask him to come back” said James Tavern bitterly. “We all liked him: he was a real gentleman with a great sense of humour. But basically we at SimFly are out of 2.5 million dollars because the Frasca was not insured. Who buys insurance for a simulator?”.
And that may not be all of Buba’s troubles. The FAA, the NTSB and Homeland Security have become involved because Buba allegedly cried ‘Ai-Yi-Yi-Yi’ as the simulator crashed, the cry of terrorists as they anticipate martyrdom. Homeland security is now concerned that Bubab may have been training for a terrorist attack using a simulator.

“Can you imagine the damage that one of these simulators could do if it were loaded with explosives?” said one Homeland security official. Buba was quickly whisked off to the Guantanamo Baby detention centre where Gambian embassy personnel will be able to write a letter to him in three years. The FAA has issued a Directive for the Frasca simulator effectively grounding the entire fleet until the cause of the crash can be determined.

I thank god my family members were not in that building at the time of the accident. Hopefully now there will be tougher restrictions on Sim Training. Also hope they fry the guy at the Guantanamo baby center.

hahaha, I never knew ai-yi-yi-yi was the cry of terrorists? I thought they said allah w akbar or something along those lines. Sorry, but what language is that ai-yi-yi-yi-yi...I think i said that once while having an orgasim...Glad homeland stupidity wasn't around for that.

wahahaha that is just awesome!

Pardon the ignorance, but where the hell was the instructor? and if they knew how he's been flying that thing, why did they allow it to continue?

Come on Bob. Besides being piece of racist humour it didn't really happen. I'm an avid reader of the Orlando Sentinal (Star) The paper hasn't used the word Star in it's header for years now. A quick check of the paper on Jan 4th shows no mention of the story. I didn't need to check it but for the ones that do believe this story could possibly true here's the link. A quick google search http://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8 will lead right back to pprune and AV Canada. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/

So, what you're saying really, is when I gallop through the streets of Kenora, on my camel, waving my AK and cursing Catholics, I shouldn't scream.."FAK, FAK, FAK, SHEIT, FAK FAK"?

Last time I called the suicide hot line, the guy asked if I could drive a standard.

Good one. Caught a few.

When did you get the Camel? One Hump or Two? What does the camel like to eat? Is it trained not to spit? What'd you name him? How's it do in the snow? So many questions........

It's a good thing you didn't buy my house Doc it's within ear shot of the bells at the Catholic Church. Ruins my Sunday mornings. :smt040

What a troll!!!! WHAT A TROLL!

It is time to award the third annual Nissie for being sucked in by a troll. The competition here is going to be stiff, particularily with all those that were asking serious questions. I think that we may have to drop "Nissie" (named after the first year's award") as ome of those sucked in were phenominal...eh Bobaroo.....

I may need to ask for help and start a committee.

Sorry but there has been some disqualifications as of now.

the guys in the office here , after laughing until they puked at some of the replies, pointed out that they did not think this was intended as a troll, but as joke, and that the moronically enhanced just didnt get it.

If that is the case, then all you who made fantastic submissions will have to be disqualified as you technically were not sucked in by a troll.

But hey, keep up the good works guys, The 2007 award is still up for grabs.

Anybody else think the humour was racist? Obviously the mods didn't, since the trread wasn't pulled. :?

Come on HS the guy is Gambian/Muslim and named Bubab crying ‘Ai-Yi-Yi-Yi’. Neatly fitting a terrorist profile. Would it even be a story if he was W.A.S.P. from England crying oh shit?
Please don't tell me the AV Canada Mods are your last word in what is and isn't considered racist. It's borderline at best.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I see nothing racist there. For me the whole point of that joke, the reason it's set up the way it is, is to make asses out of the FAA, the FBI and Homeland Security.

I do agree that my reference of the mods was uncalled for. This is a difference of opinion between you and I, and I do apologize for bringing that up.

so who looks after these things anyway?

I seem to recall a Star trek episode (or was that one of the movies???) where Captain Kirk was reminded of his days at the "Academy" and how he was the only one to solve an "impossible" scenario.........By reprogramming the computer (or something to that effect) when no one was "looking"......

sorry my trekkie days are behind me now.....

So hurray for doing the impossible? (and back to the drawing board and a slap on the wrist perhaps to the maintenance dept)

What is it they say? Don't shoot the messenger......(or put him in jail for showing the world your failures/security breaches)

And if they are (in the US) stupid enough to still accept these "students" well what can one say? Oh yes another name for a donkey is? (starts with an A)

If in fact all of it happened "Bubba"......
