Just for clarification, the starting pay was to be determined based on experience in the $60k-100k range. If you had one year experience as PIC on the LR45, the pay would start at 70k. If you had 5 years experience as a PIC on jets, the pay would have been over 85k etc.

I made just shy of 51K on the MU2 last year. The current salary at where I was has gone up SUBSTANTIALLY as well.

I typically don't write on any forum but feel I must write something based on the comments that I've seen on this particular subject. I realize this is an anonymous forum and people do have a right to there opinions. I do not work for Air Sprint however I do know a few people that have come thru those doors. Regarding wage we currently are in a time where we are all beginning to reap some financial benefits as well as see a large change in the mindsets of owners and management for the better. However the comments i've seen in this thread only damage the credibility of those who have worked hard for these changes and truly embarass me. Air Sprint is a reputable and profitable company from my understanding, the wages are not that far off from all the other companies based within Calgary or for that matter Vancouver and Toronto. These are not wages that are going to make you go hungry, lose sleep, or go into financial arrears. Cost structures are complex and in order for you and myself to have employment they must be operated with positive gains. I am not sure the experience level of most of you posting but I do know you can and should act more professionally. If pilots want to be payed professionally then we must act professionally and that goes for any forum whether it be written on the internet or walking on the ramp. Nothing comes for free we all have to work hard to get ahead the wages listed are not the highest nor are they the lowest. They are wages that most can get ahead on and hopefully if Air Sprint stays profitable the employees will see that. Hard work = Good reputation and clientele = Profit. If you do not like the wages state it in a professional manner, move on and get on with your day you are not required to work for Air Sprint or any other company. You are not just representing yourself, you are representing all your colleagues and peers with your statements. Please choose your words more carefully and act more appropriately, then, if and when the downturn hits management and the owners may just give our opinions some credibility. Treat those as kindly as you would like to be treated.

Bigblind: How would you go about trying to better our profession by increasing salary and quality of life? Perhaps you're unfamiliar with Calgary, in that case let me fill you in. $60,000/year is not comfortable living. Even more insulting in my eyes is that someone with 5 years command experience is only considered to be worth 85k. Sprint obviously is having problems finding people or they wouldn't advertise on here, or throw out a jet PIC job to those without jet time. I would imagine if they continue to have problems finding people, and their current pilots keep leaving despite the bonds they will be forced make changes. Perhaps the wording of the previous posts wasn't to your liking, but it certainly wasn't spreading anything terribly inaccurate.

But it does have the advantage of not having to work the rigs. You also get to live in Calgary, not send money to your wife in Calgary while you live most of the year in a wonderful place like Zama City.

Westjet's first year salary is around 54k / year. Wasn't the average class somewhere close to 8 to 9000 hours not too long ago ? And here you guys are complaining about 5 years jet pic experience and 85k being a bad salary? Hah!

Not sure what you guys are complaining about. With 54k a year, life is fine in Calgary. Sure, you can't be driving the fancy BMW and own your house in the Southwest like the 3rd year six figure guys can, but you surely aren't on here complaining about life being tough.

I don't want to change the topic but want to give you guys a comparison for what you're arguing about here. Airsprint is no where near the levels of Westjet or Air Canada for that matter, yet they're offering a salary greater than our national carriers while in the ground school classes, there have been guys with more than 5 years jet pic time.

That's the whole point, Beaverdude, "pilots coming out of there." Its such a badly-paid job that nobody stays. Pension? Dental? 2 weeks off a month? Holidays? Per diems?

You guys continue to set the bar low and you will easily attain it.

$60 grand anywhere except oh, Botswana, sucks.

When I saw that AirSprint HR replied I had to chuckle. Wow.. most companies wouldn't even dare to comment on here in fear of getting chewed out. I have been on this forum for years and see it time and time again. I bet you the HR department reads this thread and regrets ever replying. Its okay AirSprint maybe next time......maybe next time.

There seems to be two pretty old threads concerning AirSprint that have been brought back to life (my last post in this thread is from over two years ago). If you have any specific questions about the company, I'll be happy to answer them.

No regrets. My expectation is that there will be more negative replies than positive. The goal is to provide accurate information regarding the company, and available positions, to pilots who are interested. We recognize that it can be really tough for pilots at the start of their career (or after losing a job), and we try to provide them with some answers to make their lives easier.

Not really sure what this is referring to but I'll address a few points for people who are interested:

Per-diem: $2.63/hr
Holidays: 2 weeks per year initially, then 3 weeks per year after 3 years
Benefits: 50% premium payment (100% payment after 5 years) for (usually 80% coverage) medical, prescription drugs, dental, travel. There are also short and long term disability benefits. We have an RRSP matching plan (3% after 3 years with a vesting period, 5% after 5 years with no vesting period).
Schedule: 10 days of reserve, 5 days off (no pilot in the company has flown more than 180 of the 240 reserve days in the last year)

We do not expect that everyone will stay for their careers. Our pilots contribute greatly to the success of our company and should they choose to pursue another dream, the least we can do is help them attain it. Many times over the last few years, we have written letters of reference to Westjet, Air Canada, and Cathay to help our pilots attain their dream. We are sad to lose them, but happy that we can help. It is a goal of ours to become an alternative to the airlines much like the industry in the US. We are not there yet but with continued growth, over the next few years we hope to get closer to that goal.

I do not see anything wrong with AIRsprint. Every company has their own personality. They have rules, strategies and ethic. Who likes it, more then welcome to apply. Who doesnt, is more then welcome to apply somewhere else. Why we have always complain or even compare every company, highlighing the bad (an opinion anyway) aspects and never remarks the good ones?

I just love the fact that there is a HR person out there willing to come on here and contribute, much appreciated AirSprintHR, I've run into your PC12 guys a few times on the west coast, happy positive bunch, I'd love to work for you, even if I haadd.... to move to Calgary. Hopefully we'll see you on the job board again!
