Anyone know of any decent schools with fair examiners in either Alberta or BC where I can my Instructor renewal/ ride?
Thanks in advance.

What kind of renewal is it?

Is it an expired rating or just a haven't upgraded yet? If your rating is still current and it is your first renewal all you have to do is fillout a form and then it's done.

As for the examiner, they are based with TC, DFTEs from the school can't do instructor rides so the question becomes which office you want to renew with. I have never known anybody who has requested an examiner so I don't know if this would work.

Not exactly true. As of 2006, renewal rides may be done by Pilot Examiners that have been designated by Transport Canada. The down side to this is that they probably cost more, and their are not many qualified Instructors in the country that have applied to get this the Pilot Examiner - Instructor delegation.
