I also read that Westwind had a window blow out on their 1900 just after T/O out of YXE just a few hours before the YQR accident.

Sorry to see her on her nose like that... poor little thing. Looks like the crew did a pretty good job of putting it down, glad it all worked out safely.

I guess they shoulda left the lucky rabbit in there!

The lucky Rabbit indeed. It's too bad that most those crews wouldn't even know about it. Right now that little plane is calling the pronto chant.

Sorry the humour did not come through in the post  . I am speculating. The Beech 100 with the electric-mechanical extension/retraction has a delicate nose wheel actuator system. It is a twin bicycle chain that requires vigilant care and attention to keep in good operation. That is why Beech changed to a hydraulic system and there are several STC’s to convert to hydraulic.

Before the pissing match starts…. :smt014 I’m not suggesting this operator was not vigilant or that the system is electric-mechanical . I’m simply pointing to a possible cause  .

I can garuntee you that particular 100 has the electric-mechanical landing gear.

It also has an STC for ridiculously good looking pilots... but, I don't know if the company still holds the Ops Spec to use it though...

Those duplex chains are prone to failure. Shit happens.

I sure hope that our Beechcrafts here in Afghanistan do not have bicycle chains. With the pounding they take, we would all soon be pedalling...
