Just curious as I've heard some guys got Vancouver....some Toronto....been looking over some vnc's and lo charts just to get use to different area's.......most practice exams are toronto

Im fine with Nav and Air Law...and all the practical stuff such as wt&balance and performance charts....using the e6-b cx-2. Its the wx theory that im concerned about along with general knowledge. Anybody with any key tips on those 2 area's please let me know!

I know there are tons of CPL exam written threads out there and yes I have searched through them....looking for more recent questions..Thanks!

I think the one of the most important parts to remember is the definitions of things such as:

-Density Altitude
-Pressure Altitude
-True Altitude

This also applies to airspeeds, heading / track, etc.

More than a few questions will be worded in such a way as to throw you off the correct answer. If you recall the basics, it will be easier to eliminate distractors from the questions, therefore making the correct answer stick out. Here is a link that may also come in handy..

Anybody with any key tips on those 2 area's please let me know!

I can tell you what I have told anyone that I have ever taught (Not just flying, but Math, electroinics etc too). Study what you do not know so well. It seems like an obvious thing, but I have seen all to often, students spending more time looking at the stuff they already know. I suppose it instills a (false) sense that they are ready for the exam. Looking at stuff they are not as up on as they should be seems tougher to them. Of course it all comes out in the end.

Read the material, read it again, and then again untill you understand, to the level required, the underlying principles of the subject. Memorizing selected facts will not do (unless studying CARS I suppose). As far as met goes, I have saved myself many times simply by remembering that hot air rises. From there you can figure out the correct answer to many met questions as you go. Of course the obvoius question follows: Whats keeping me down?

It's possible. Thank God I didn't get it.....
So far, I have only heard of one person who was asked a question on finding the Sun's true bearing.

-civil twilight charts
-triangle of velocities
-air plot (i think)
-VERY ACCURATE FLIGHT PLANNING.. I mean..like to the minute or nm LOL
-VOR reception.
-ADF error
-VOT
-ADF (Mh + RB kinda crap)
-GPS

Met:

-CRFI (go/ no go)
-De-icing procedures out of the TC aim (weird question involving brooms and string)
-Precip at a warm front (winter weather)
-Sig Wx charts
-Cloud types at a warm front
-TAF's --> COLD
-GFA's, wind barbs, etc..
-GFA..frontal advancement
-GFA

One other think you are just about guaranteed to see in Met is icing. Know the progression of a warm front, how to figure out what precip is where in the cross section of the front (ie freezing rain here, snow here, rain here, etc.). If you can work through the ACWM workbook the Met on the CPL will be a breeze.

Just an update for anyone who cares to hear....I wrote the CPL today....and partialled that nav was a bitch...95% air law...74 aeronautics...70 in weather...72% overall...ill take it...i re-write the nav in 2 weeks or so...

Some really funny questions on that exam....glad its 3/4 done!....
