VFR Checkout Rates?
For those that have had experience with VFR training what were the checkout rates like?

10 out of 12 who started checked out. 2 that didn't were fss upgrades (1 went back to fss, the other was shown the street). 4were ifr's who were ct'd and given another chance vfr.

Wow, that's a fantastic checkout rate!
Good to hear for those that made it. Especially the IFR guys who failed, would have had a ton of debt on the line by then.

did 10/12 checkout including on the job?? not just NCTI? if so, that is pretty good.

My class: 12 of 12 made it through NCTI, so far 10 of 12 have checked out with only one being CT'ed. One still in training at a second unit.

When I was in Cornwall they hadn't CT'ed anyone from the Cornwall segment of VFR training in over 3 1/2 years. That was from a tower instructor who was teaching there at the time.
A bit better odds than the standard 50% or more that you'd lose on the IFR courses in Cornwall, not to mention the fact that only about 30% of those who made it through Cornwall ever managed to check out at an ACC...

Re: VFR Checkout Rates?
It all depends on where you're sent. 4 of the 10 in our course currently have a protected position in the company. There are 2 more that are still training 4 years later, all thanks to the graduated tower sign your life away bullshit. I'd say the average is 60-70%. If you get offered a direct entry course for YYZ or YYC don't take it. The checkout rates there will make IFR look like a walk in the park.
