Question for Montreal centre High-level sectors
As of Mon March 10 at around 11 a.m. (15z) the Timmins transmitter for 133.97 (Timmins-Noranda sector) isn't heard here anymore. I hear pilots using that freq as if there IS a controller on the other end. I've searched NavCan's NOTAMS and there's nothing about any changes. Does anyone know?
Re: Question for Montreal centre High-level sectors
The good news the freq returned to normal shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday and the controller kept asking for radio checks on 120.72. I asked a friend of mine who works Tech and didn't have an answer either. Problem solved
Re: Question for Montreal centre High-level sectors
the back up for 133.97 is located in YYU, so if you're on the ground at YTS, you won't hear anything.
maybe that's what happened.

And while we have your attention in Montreal, a huge thank you to the moron that let the journalist follow him into the ACC which promulgated all the new security measures across the country.
Well done.
Well done.
Re: Question for Montreal centre High-level sectors
I doubt the person that held the door knew they were journalists. Is it really a bad thing to have more security, because before anyone could get in. At least now to get in you need to swipe your pass for every car and soon to get in the building too.

I never said security was a bad thing. I can't believe how poor it has been until now. I still can't believe he/she let a complete stranger follow them in. Recognition is the best security card.
Braun, I don't know about your location but the double security gate here is going to be pain for all the vehicles stuck behind the line up waiting to get in the ACC. Maybe we could hire some security staff to check passes and speed things up.......sorry, been there, done that already.

let's say that those "journalists" have got a pretty good hint from someone inside. They showed up a few days after the third CAATS ORD, when a lot of engineers and other CAATS specialists were hanging around in the ops room. pretty tough to find the journalist among all these guys....

Re: Question for Montreal centre High-level sectors
Nothing personal but that's a lame excuse. Somebody was obviously quite happy to let a complete stranger follow them into the building without even asking to see some ID. Basic security error.
I've made people stand out in the cold and check in with the NOC if they want in with no ID or I don't know them. It's really not that difficult.

Yeah I agree with you 100% about that, it does take time to get in at the peak hours and a security guard would be the best bet imo.Justin Case wrote:I never said security was a bad thing. Re: Question for Montreal centre High-level sectors
I thought the previous system was ok as long as you didn't have dumb people policing it and letting strangers into the building. As with many things in life, the majority pay for the stupidity of a few.
Re: Question for Montreal centre High-level sectors
easy said, buddy....
there were at least 20-25 complete strangers in those days , when CAATS was implemented. you would have lost your mind asking ID to all those guys you had never seen before.
