What would you do?
Hey guys,
Right now I am about half way through my PPL. The plan is to go CPL, MIFR and land a pilot position with a regional somewhere. My current office job earns me enough income to pay for the bills and for flying a few hours a week. I also have both my TC Dispatch exams passed and have starting applying to airlines for dispatcher positions. I know if I get called it will be less money than what I make now. Question, what's the better approach to get into the flight dek??
1.) Stay with my higher earning job and complete my training sooner and start instructing and then look for work
OR
2.) Accept a flight dispatcher position, at less money...complete my training but over a longer period of time but hope once completed they will move into the right seat.
I know it all depends on the airline. For sure AC wouldn't take a newbie and move him\her into a pilot position but lets say a smaller startup regional.
Anyone have any thoughts??

I would vote for route #1. Stick with your good pay job, get the training done asap.
Companies look at your Flight Time. Dispatch experience helps, but still, I think flight time is the most important among all.
Well........Connection is also important!
Good Luck!!

The quickest way into a pilot's seat is in the pilot's seat. Companies are experiencing such high turnover, that to train and indoc a dispatcher only to lose him to a flying position doesn't make sense like it once did. Go fly, if you want to fly. If you want to dispatch, dispatch.
