Questions regarding Medical Exam

Post by husky_143 »

alright i have to get my Category 1 Aviation Medical Exam ASAP. but the only thing im concerned about is that i have been smoking the "funny" stuff lately. Would that have any affect on my medical exam someone told me that they do a drug test. So if any of you fellas understand my situation please advise me what to do.
THANK YOU.

No they do not test for drugs. They do make you pee in a cup though, but that is testing for things like sugar, lipids etc. in your urine, not drugs.

If you're looking for a career in aviation *which by the sounds of u needing a CAT I is the case*you shouldn't be smoking 'funny' stuff anyway. It will own you one day when you want to get that dream job. Just a Heads Up since you've been doing this 'lately.'

The TC exam is easy to pass unless you've got issues like Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Abnormal Obesity, or something like that. Otherwise it's easy.

If you're looking for careers outside of Canada and US, the government medicals become more stringent and filtered.

Good Luck

well. with cat 1. its some what detail oriented...like the AME would ask you variuos q's regarding your past and your family in relation to any medical problems. I broke my pinky when i was young and he made a note of that in my profile so considering your case the AME would for sure make a note of that in your file but it should not have any negative effect on ur medical. other than that they also do a audiogram to test your hearing power with crazy frequencies of beeps. weight/height and all. eyesight with or without glasses has to be 20/20..they also check for colorblindness by showing you illsuions that you have to read out...but its not as bad as even I thought i'd be..you'll be fine drink tons of water since they do a urine test aswell...g.luck

and have'nt smoked the funny stuff in about almost 2 months..
wt can i do flying is a bigger pleasure to keep.
