Hiring Pools

Post by aviator20 »

I was just wondering is there becoming a greater need for ATC now? WHat are the hiring pools like now and is it a good time to apply? I was just wondering because I am thinking of doing the tests and wanted to know what IFR courses are becoming avalable and the next cornwall course for VFR?

Keep in mind that the process can take a long time: 3 to 4 months to get through the screening, then up to 1.5 years to get assigned to a course. It might be less, but I'd suggest applying now if you think you might want to do it a year or more from now. You can always postpone if they offer you a course.

The only wild card is the SHL contract ending in September...

so if Nav Canada begins hiring their own again will they be using the same application process with aptitude tests etc? Also is there a big demand right now that will make it easier to get in?

At the time of my application in February '07 there was a high demand for bilingual FSS and ATC. The $200 testing fee was waived for bilingual applicants.
