Kenya Charter Operators
Hello, AvCanadians.
I know I've posted this on the Canada forum, but I'm hoping some of you out there will able to give me some answers...
Does anyone know anything about Safarilink (http://www.safarilink-kenya.com/) or another company in the region called "Barski's" (or something similar - couldn't find them on google)? Don't need any info re: working there - looking for more along the lines of safety record, professionalism, any flying experiences. Essentially, would you fly on them to head out on safari?
Thanks for any information you are able to provide.
John

Re: Kenya Charter Operators
I've got a few friends currently flying for them. They seem happy but are currently all taking ALOT of time off. The current touristic situation has not rebounded yet, and they are not looking for anyone at the moment. Once the market recovers, they should be hireing again. During the high season, all of them seem to work 27-28 days in a row, which is madness by Canadian standards but "normal" by African standards.

Uganda is a beautiful country, unfortunately they dont have much tourism, other then a select few that head there to see the Gorillas.BoostedNihilist wrote:actually, east africa isn't totally slipping. Uganda was a breeze in feb Beautiful people and very little violence.. I did the entire country and had zero problems... Tanzania was a freaking zoo (figuratively and literally, best wildlife viewing ever) and kenya was on its way to 'stability' by the time I left in march.
Stay away from Karibu airlines.. do a quick wiki
precision.. aint to shit hot either. One of the indian pilots crashed his LET l410U into the runway... with me in the back, and yeah... it wouldn't have been so bad, just a banged up tail section... I was surprised to see him line up and take off as there was quite a bit of visual damage to the aircraft...
BoostedNilihis is right when he calls Tanzania a Zoo (Although Botswana has its fair share of crazy monkey pilots too).
Stay far, far away from Precision Air, those idiot monkeys nearly killed me countless times with near mid-air's and runway incursions.... (By the way Boost, they dont operate Let-410's anymore... crashed them all on training flights (gear-up overshoots on one engine) they only have ATR42's and a 72)
Do you have any Van, or -6 time? If not Bots might be a better place for you to look for something.

Re: Kenya Charter Operators
I'm sure Precision Air had something like that to all their LET-410's before the finished them off with gear-up's.... I almost miss having those idiots trying to kill me day in, and day out!
Re: Kenya Charter Operators
Thanks all for the feedback. I'll keep Precision and Karibu in mind. I'm encouraged by the positive feedback about SafariLink.
Has anyone heard of the other carrier, Barski's? (or something similar?)
Please bear in mind I'm not looking for a job - need info re: safety, professionalism of crew, etc.
Thanks again!
