First thing to take into consideration is it will cost you $500.00 per hour for fuel and oil to fly it.

The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.

After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.

I spotted that. Not a bad price. You can spend more on a nice J3. But, you could afford to feed a J3..LOL. But still, it'd be really a kewl thing to have. You could live in it at the airport. Use it as a flying whorehouse. Can I say whorehouse? Of course I can. Get a bunch of folks together, and just have it as a pet? Lease it to somebody who operates them......

I was at Geneseo, NY on the weekend, and they had
a DC-3 and a C-47 in the hangar, a Beech 18 parked
in front of the hangar was ready to go, and a B-17 was
doing touch & goes on the grass runway

It's not just money that it takes to keep these things
flying. It's hours and hours of hard work and arcane
knowledge gained over many years. You need a whole
support group (of probably volunteers) to keep an
old airplane like this operating.

Most people probably wouldn't believe how many hours
of ground labour are required for each hour of flight.

I've always had a dream of operating a flying whorehouse. On floats of course. :smt040 :smt079

For that price, buy it, fly it home, sell the engines, sell the remaining AVGAS to the local hotrod club, cut the wings off of it and turn it in to the coolest winnebago on the block!

...you could even use some of the parts you cut off, like wing tips, to make cool office furniture to sell on Ebay and recoup even MORE money. you can't lose here!!

You say yuo can't afford the gas at the current prices? Well then turn it into a house! At $50G's it's a steal!! The trusty Janitrol will keep you toasty warm all winter long!
