Embraer Options

Post by interested »

Does AC have any further options on the Embraer 190? Has there been any talk about increasing the Embraer fleet?

Yes, and 8 of the options were used for varig, No extra plane for now unless they shrink the 320 feet and 767 feet.... and that's a good possibility, so no pilot growth anyways...only retiring (Talked to a mngt guy this week)

I don't think Air Canada actually sold any options to Varig. Varig had entered into bankruptcy protection and at one time it was reported that Air canada was going to give up six of its' E190 deliveries to Varig and in return, get an equity stake in the company.

Air Canada would then exercise six of its' 45 E190 options ( that it held at the time ) at a later date to make up for the six that went to Varig. This never transpired however and as far as I know, Air Canada decided not to exercise any of the 45 options they held, so they are gone.

I've been hearing a rumour for a while now that 195's are coming, and that the 175's are going to JAZZ.

As at March 31, 2008, 25 options for Embraer ERJ-190 series aircraft remained exercisable.

Interesting..........I have also heard that the company is seeking out some 321s to replace the 200s. Quite similar capacity for transcon when you think about it.

If AC exercises an option on an EMB it will be to park an A319/320, Is that a good thing? For corp yes - for pilots no.

That question has been asked directly to management and the answer was that there were no such plans.

Sending 15 175's to Jazz makes about as much sense as sending 16 705's to mainline. It also makes as much sense as operating the same guage at both levels.

Once again - thanks Marty.
