MEXICO CITY -- Canada's Bombardier Inc. (BBDb/TSX), the world's third-largest civil aircraft maker, said on Thursday it plans to invest $250-million in a Mexican plant in the central state of Queretaro.
Bombardier's chief executive Laurent Beaudoin told reporters at an event in Mexico City that the facility would manufacture jet parts.
Queretaro, a two-hour drive from Mexico's capital, is one of the country's leading industrial hubs and has attracted many international companies in recent years.

I wonder where these parts are presently being made. I sure hope the answer is not in Canada, in other words will Canadians be losing jobs?

It's to manufacture the all-new L85 composite structure and wiring harnesses. The sub-assemblies will then be shipped partly assembled to Wichita for final assembly as with all other Learjet products.

Just too bad that some of those "skilled" unemployed auto workers in Ontario couldn't get the work.

I think they are trying to tap the Central and South American market for business jets too. In this economy, I'd be surprised if the US is still their largest market.
Did you see that doorknob Finance Minister said that despite the first contraction in the Canadian economy for 6 years (2 consecutive retractions in a row=recession) he refuses to acknowledge that there might be trouble looming despite a cratered wood industry, car/truck industry and quadruple fuel prices?
Just wait 'til winter rolls around when the heating season begins.
Dr. Xs, the noted economist, sez: "If you've got a job and you have some seniority, hang on to it because there will be blood spilled this fall after the busy summer season."
That is all.

"What's it doing now?"
