Speaking of which... wasn't Jazz going to restructure their pay scale this year? or is it 2009?

Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
Just wondering what sort of age range CMA considers...do they prefer younger F/O's or would they look at a guy 40+??
Thanks for the comments. DF

Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
There's a couple of guys there in the right seat (or who started in the right) who are over 40. The majority of people are in their mid 20's to 30's, though, just like the demographics of beginning commercial flying.

Just as a response to Anti-ice's first post. You get all the same things at Pasco (flt planning done for you, multi-day pairings etc etc) but with almost double the pay. CMA has no excuse for paying people what they do and pilots have no excuse for accepting it.
Then again, we don't get spiffy hats and every now and then we have to throw a bag, but I'll take it

Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
Sorry a little off topic but...
at PASCO, are 3 days the most you'll get OFF in a row?
How many days in a row off can you fandangle at CMA?
(gotta be able to get back to YYZ to visit family and need more than just a couple of days)
thanks!

Really, you looking to work in Vancouver, but must have enough days off in a row to travel to Toronto? Make sure you ask for more money in the interview too.
Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
I wonder if there will be much movement in these low paying jobs now that the bigger guys are slowing down. Like ACA is taking a cut back even.
It'll be interesting in the next few months

Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
Exactly why I went to Jazz, I was paranoid that the music would stop so rather than wait for A/C I took the jump to Jazz when things were still moving. Now I've got a bunch of guys below me and am past the crappiest pay level and am sitting pretty with a semi-crappy pay level and a good schedule. I don't mind being stuck here, better than the unemployment line.So a move to jazz is not a foolish one - if the industry bites it (or when, i suppose) jazz is a far better place to be "stuck" than even CMA - solid union contract, fantastic working conditions not even matched by mainline AC, etc.

Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
Are they looking for direct entry captains as well? I seem to remember reading somewhere 1st capt pay was around 40K but anyone have more recent info about salary for someone who would qualify as DEC?

Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
CMA is a joke. They expect you to have an atpl with a couple thousand hours of turbine time but they give you shit money for it. Do they not realize that their FO's are well below the poverty line?

Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
How long is the ramp wait? From how the job ad reads it looks like you have a seniority number on the ramp and the ramp wait is for interview only not for the airplane. If you put in your time on the ramp are you give priority over other candidates off the street?
I'm applying with 750 TT+ mostly PIC.

Ramp wait is generally 1-2 years depending on your #. Usually 1 ground school a month and they take one ramp guy and put em in it each time.
For direct entry, you need 1000 hours TT. They are quite firm on this to be fair to their ramp guys, who are aware people WILL be hired ahead of them onto a seat IF they have the 1000 min hours. Still, apply anyways so that you're at least in their system and they can keep an eye on you when they need you. That's what I did. PIC time is good, that way you can actually obtain your ATPL when the time comes, and they can left seat you on their 1900's.
Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
Do they want an atpl for left seat on the 1900?
I guess it doesn't matter, there's no way in hell I could afford that job lol.

Re: CMA Hiring First Officers
The ATPL is a requirement for PIC in any aircraft over 12,500 lbs, so yes they do.
