Jazz recall and hiring

Post by Pratt »

The word is out, with the new bid 01-2005. The recalls will start by March 01/05 with at least 12 a month being recalled, (if I recall the #'s correctly), until they are all recalled then there will be hiring from the outside if required.

Considering that the number of vacancies exceeds the # of pilots on furlough, the chances of outside hiring are pretty good.

There are 114 pilots on the furlough list, the bid calls for 155 vacancies, so you do the math. You can pick your # as to how many might have found other work etc. where they won't be coming back, as I have no idea of those numbers. So later in the year we MIGHT actually be hiring.

But I would suggest that all of you who are qualified to update/keep your resume updated.

If you guys would read a newspaper from time time to time you would know that there ws an announcement made by Jazz in the Globe and Mail on November 27. There will be a recall and new hiring. Put down the Archie comics and pay attention.

I'm actually unable to return right away. (contractual commitments) I think there may be a few of us turning it down for the time being.

That could actually be in your favour. Some of the shit might have settled by the time that you return.

Good to hear that you were able to find other work while you were on furlough. Hopefully it was somewhere warm and sunny! :D

The Jazz equipment bid came out yesterday showing all furloughed members getting their seats back and a requirement of 40 vacancy positions. Now I noticed some furloughed members names on the call back list who have long-term contracts overseas who will not be returning shortly so I'm only speculating that the total number of newhires will exceed the vacancy positions because of pilots unable to leave their commitments.

Looks like things are turning around for the better at Jazz. As for me, I just got hired on with a new company in Montreal that does mainly corporate fying, as well as the odd medevac. I ended the old year with an interview, and started the new year with a job offer. Just spent two weeks in Paris training at Flightsafety. Paris was great, but damn expensive. I'ts nice to be back home again. I'm now type rated on the Citation II and looking forward to getting back up in the air again.

CONGRATS there Irie Man, good to see that the year has started out on a positive note.

On the JAZZ aspect, that's great to see all the new positions being offered back/coming available. Does anyone know how many are already in the pool or when interviews are expected to start? I just put my update in this week, but I'm sure there's tonnes of people already in the pool ahead of me that will get in.

I plan to keep my qualifications up to date with Air Canada Jazz as well. Even though I'm locked in with my present company for the next year and a half.

I think the chances of the -400's are slim to nonexistant. It has been talked about and rumoured for years, mostly by the flight crews I think!!
