67 Winglets

Post by oates76 »

Hi guys, I still have not heard any updates on AC's plans to install blended winglets on the 67's. I know they had initially planned on it. Anyway, they were just installed on the first AA 67, and I have to say, look pretty awesome.

With the 762's being parked this year, I would think it is only a matter of time before the 763's follow suit. Seems like a waste of money.

The B763 aren't going anywhere until the B787 start arriving!

those WestJet winglettes paid for themselves twice as fast when oil went to 50$. It would be safe to assume that the money will be well spent if the 767's will be holding out until the 787 arrives. The longer flights, the 737 sees 6% savings, where a short sector sees almost nothing (that's why our -600 doesn't have them). Put this percentage on a 767 and the savings is probably way higher over 10 or 12 hours.

This is for RJ's, I would imagine it's relevant

AND EMISSIONS REDUCTION WORKSHOP

Rule of thumb, for regional jets and business

AVIATION OPERATIONAL MEASURES FOR FUEL
AND EMISSIONS REDUCTION WORKSHOP

Rule of thumb, for regional jets and business
applications:
additional fuel requirement: approx2.6 % of OWE
weight increase x hours flown
– e.g. extra weight = 500 kg
– flight time = 1.5 hours~~ 500 nm.
– extra fuel burn = 30 - 50 kg
– extra CO2 = 100 -160 kg
