Certainly been a very rough week in aviation with the Grumman Goose crash with 5 dead, followed by that helicopter in north western BC with another 4 dead and now the latest(today) in northern California on the firefighting helicopter crash with 9 dead.

Dangerous, or stressful to the point of requiring psychiologocal recontstruction? Let's not forget what happened outside Potage La Prairie. Pilots do not have to deal with what they did, ever. Different career, different scenerios, grow up. Officers perform as they were sworn in, and perform to thier fullest in a scenerio like that, 'nuff said. Your worst day is spilling your coffee on your GPS/FMS and losing it and resorting to how airplanes were flown years ago. How do you sleep at night? Lucky for you, you work on a ridiculously redundant machine due to years of frivoulous lawsuits and are guarunteed a safer day at work no matter what than the guys that stop crime, tazers or not.

why dont you post something of value instead of just shooting your mouth of at those who do post and to which you disagree with and then try to insult
no disrespect meant at all to police and their work, its a nasty job, been there done some of that
my only point was that several pilots ( and others ) just died in the performance of their duty and many times all we hear is how dangerous police work is, and at times it is. aviation has its death rate as well
there are other professions just as dangerous and maybe more so if one checks the statistics, and the ones who died in china are hardly a fair comparison. that was an act of terrorism.

I highlighted the part of teh_flyguy's post you didn't understand.
Always glad to help.
He thinks, like me, you sound like a school yard kid. My job's more dangerous than your job! Nyah, nyah, na, nyah, nyah!
Yeah it is a going trend here where you have pretty good thread/discussion going and some douche-bag pipes and throws some sniveling remark in the mix and then the wheels fall off because now everyone wants a piece of the douche-bag...kinda like I am doing right now..what were we talking about again...?
Oh yeah cops and pilots...oh no what...I mean tragic deaths in aviation, right that's it. I'd like to see that guy say what he just said here in this forum to a cops face. I think aviation is stressful don't get me wrong but it is hardly the type of job where you stand a GOOD chance of being dead or hurt before the end of your shift...and they signed up for that shit!
So even though I might get stressed doing what I do it is nothing a round of golf can't take care of, I'd like to see a round of golf help an officer get through holding a dead kid in his arms, or telling parents that there child is dead, or.... you get my point. I wouldn't trade jobs for the world.
Ive removed my post from the page in respect fo those who dont read well or interpret well and in fact would even apologize if there were something to apologize for,
my point was not to take away from any credit to the police for their job but that flying can be dangerous as well, and we dont hear about that a lot.
there are police that go 15 years without having to draw a gun and in fact police work isnt even in the top ten of dangerous jobs
all we hear about is how someone elses job is so dangerous all the time in the news. in my post i choose police but could just as easily choose miners, or fishermen but we dont hear about miners and fishermen and their danger as much on the news as it doesnt serve the same purpose.
I buried six of my flying friends all one time due to flying many years ago
this place is quite amazing, there can be no opinions placed without people going into attack mode -they choose what they want to hear or what they want to interpret and then do their best to try and knock that soul own to the depths of hell with insults to make themselves feel important
It happens in this place on almost every thread and topic
I agree flying is dangerous. And I wont say which over which is more dangerous. Bush flying is more dangerous than FL18 on autopilot. Patrol/call to service cops are in more danger than the person working dispatch. Every profession has various levels of risk.
If one cannot accept that risk, turn tail and get out of the profession.

Whatever man....go back and read what you first posted.
"yes and cops are always saying how dangerous their jobs are"
How do you expect people to react to such a stupid comment as that one, you are so worried about "the thread" yet you post verbal diarrhea like that as the second post to the topic (which you changed by the way). You are truly brain dead if you think we screwed this thread.
You say you buried six of your friends years ago do to a flying accident, that post would have brought far better discussion to this thread if maybe you told us your story or something about those people...yet all we get is "yes and cops are always saying how dangerous their jobs are"....you might as well whip your junk out and say "mine is bigger than yours"
In a vain attempt to curb some of mudslinging on here, I think I'll close this for a while...
Old Fella,
I hear you, just found out a couple of the victims in the 500 crash were my crew from last year. Me sincerest condolences to their family, friends, and co-workers. Good people all around.
