I'm flying on business to Lethbridge, and Vancouver. I want to take this opportunity to visit a friend in Castlegar. I see the JZA has some flights to YCG, but the schedule does not work for me. I could not find if anyone else flies to YCG from VR or QL.
What are my options? Other than driving of course
I was also told that flights in/out of CG get cancelled often due to bad wx, how often does this happen this time of year?
When I went to gerges's place last winter, we met up in YVR and flew Jazz to cancelgar. The first flight was canceled due to fog. I'm pretty sure there's someone else that flies in there. I didn't look into it cos I was using my passes. I saw a metro 2 parked there, but I think that was a cargo run.
I've done the drive through YYC, just not from YVR, so I can tell you about the drive from YYC. I drove to trail, which is 15min from castlegar. I did it in winter, snowstorm, so it sucked, but in those conditions, 8 hours with fuel stops only. Average speed was 60, roads were all covered, and was in my mazda.
It's a hit and miss with the Castlegar, but if you're flying confirmed, I'd definitely give it a try.
That time period won't work for me, bass maybe YUL once you're back.
Nobody reliable/reputable (IMHO) doing charter out of there anymore. Pasco from YVR to Trail and apparently more often than not your destination actually ends up being CYCG in the winter. No slag to the Pasco folks (they do an excellent job) but they don't really have a lot to work with in terms of wx.
Try Sunwest out of CYYC or Pacific Sky in CYYJ for charter, but it ain't gonna be cheap...
If you drive from CYYC, take Hwy 22(?) Black Diamond south to Pincher Creek, then west on Hwy 3 through the Crowsnest to CYCG. 7-8hrs.

What is your point of origin? If you are flying to Lethbridge and Vancouver, why not include a stop-over at Penticton or Cranbrook on a connector sched, and rent a car from there? The drive is 3 hours from Penticton to Castlegar. A 2 and-a-half hour drive from Cranbrook to Castlegar.
Check out the costs of chartering from Penticton, or if chartering from Lethbridge, get a quote from Integra Air, toll free 877-213-8359, and Excel, toll free 866-305-4887.
Castlegar has some interesting IFR approaches, but the limits are basically VFR. The airport is restricted to daylight use only.
