BEST LIFESTYLE / BEST EMPLOIYER?

Post by annb »

Hi everyone. Just curious to know if there are any pilot jobs in Canada that keep you home every night, provide weekends off, and have decent pay?

Thanks for all those who reply.

Ground school instructor in the military. Touch an airplane and you will lose out on all three items on your wish list to one degree or other.

Sunwest in Calgary has a bunch of jobs that fill all three of your prerequisites of a good job.

On the downside, you're not flying to the most exotic destinations and your passengers are rig-pigs.

After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.

I've got one, and I still get to touch the odd airplane. It took me a long time to get here, however, and like most, it's not guaranteed secure.

And being a failure in commercial aviation will be an asset because the good old boys who run TCCA know they can rely on you not to question their system.

It does come with a cost though, when you join TCCA, they take your soul.

F*&K your soul. There's no such thing as a soul. Mail me a box of doughnuts and a porno mag (the good kind with pictures of other peoples' wives) and I'll give you mine.

Check that, I'll give you mine for a weekend off sometime.

BTW, the best "emploiyers" take note of spelling, ANNB.

I think this is mutually exclusive. A real week end off is not home for sure! Good money and week ends can be had easily overseas, where home is not home. :smt040

At Porter Airlines - since it's all shorthaul and during the day, this month I worked one weekend (by choice), and the rest are single day morning pairings with me being done at 3pm (ish). Ohh, and I have 17 days off this month.

There are longer pairings for those who want it, but I like to be home with the family.

2008 was along time ago.....LOL

Any input for more recent pairings? 2023, 2022??
For a new FO on the Q400 in 2023, what is a typical pairing one can get even being very new?

Thanks

Since joining Flair in early 22, I’ve only overnighted once. And that was only because the weather was to low to land.

Yeah… well.. that’s easy to say when you’re in the top 10% of seniority.

When you get there(retire), you will enjoy every hour of it that’s a given. In the interim, plug away at life and stay loose.

Have a good weekend no matter where your travels.

Maybe some airlines could try hiring weekend only pilots. A part time job.

Not bad….work 8 days a month.

So does anyone know of a vacant pilot job?

A job that offers best lifestyle / best employer would obviously be great, but I'm looking for anything at this point really.
As long as the pay is decent.
