Anybody have any idea what your schedule would be like working for the RCMP? Would you most likely be shipped to a northern base for a new hire then have a chance on chosing a base later on? Salary? Thanks

My understanding is that if you only want a specific base tell them that, and they will offer you what they have. If you are successful and if you don't want what they have open, you go back into the pool and have an equal chance at the next job. Also I was told that the YZF base is highly sought after so no worries about being sent there against your will. Schedule also sounds pretty good. Benefits and vacation are the same as for all members, mat/pat leave, etc... I dropped in on a road tri[p years ago when I was passing through YXD and the guy I talked to was warm, friendly and very open. I also met one of their engineers who was equally nice.

Does anyone know if you can actually apply to be a civilian pilot through the recruiting web site? I have never seen a job posting for pilots on there or been able to find where to apply online.

I sent them a few Email awhile back trying to get hold of a recruiter for the RCMP, I haven't got a response its been 6 months so I figure its government work and will take a few more months for them to get back to me.

Im not sure this info is 100% accurate but it used to be that if you were an active member of the force, say a Constable and got your commercial and had the hrs and met the requirement you sort of had an IN if you know what I mean. Same as a lot of places, thats just how it is,
It used to be that for a Gov.t job there had to be a posting for you to apply. but I don.t know if the Air Serv actually does this.
I think the position has changed over time also, at one time it was a Special Officer, you did depot and were issued a sidearm them it was civilian pilots. Not sure of the status now.

How often is it that they post want ads? I don't recall ever seeing any, at least not in quite some time. I'm sure those who work there are treated pretty fairly, giving its government run, cushy schedule, but I'm only assuming.
